Black cherry, black raspberry, mushroom, earthy. 2012 but still plenty of fruit. Nice acidity, retained tannins. Really nice — 6 years ago

With as much Spanish wine as I drink it is shocking I haven’t had this until now. It did not disappoint. I did feel it was touch sweet, but on day two this wine sang. — 8 years ago
Essentially the perfect wine for my palette. Beautiful feminine floral nose, pretty, ethereal cherries and bright red raspberries, along with anise and tobacco. Weightless mouthfeel with a rich consistency; like having your tongue wrapped in liquid velvet. However those earthy Sangiovese tannins show up just in time to add a remarkable masculine balance. This wine sang a song about food. Gosh I wish I had another.... — 8 years ago
Yes. Pop and pour, notes from 3 hrs open. As with the Pur Sang, this needs a lot of air right now. With air, this is stunning. Gooseberry, sour apple, lemon oil, mint leaf. On the palate: great density and richness, but balanced by fantastic acidity. Mint-infused oil, lemon peel, lovely herbal notes. Lovely, clean finish. — 5 years ago

Lovely, engaging natural red wine. Deep red color. Burst if aroma. Tastes better after some airing. Has just a little bubble that strikes the tongue on first sips — 8 years ago
New label: less metal and more beauty. Big big big catalan. Decant to taste wildflowers — 8 years ago
Sampled at a dinner with the charming Karen MacNeil seated directly across from me, legends Bill Harlan and Andrea Robinson at the table behind me. The Opus One 2006 sang—one long, melodic, satiny chord drenched in wild blueberries, steeped blackberries, and black raspberry. It unfurls slowly, releasing a daub of incense, then sandalwood, anise, dark chocolate shavings, and camphor. It is suave and sexy—a white tie and tails sort of wine combining power and freshness, finishing in dried herbs and graphite. #WineWritersSymposium2017 — 9 years ago
2017 is the best year for this wine. Love it — 7 years ago

This took some time to open up, but once it did it really sang. All of Greg’s 2018s have gottne rave reviews; based on what I’ve tried so far, well deserved. Has many years of development ahead of it, but is definitely approachable now with ~20min of air. — 5 years ago
