The estate dates back to the Crusades, and Scottish navigator, George Smith, the owner in the 18th century. He was followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, and then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. In 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard now own the estate. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, darrk berry aromas, herb and spice. On the palate complex juicy black fruit flavors, cinnamon and cacao notes. Soft tannins, rich and full, lingering, mineral, youthful ending, needs time. — 7 years ago

Lovely oyster shell, chalk, mineral/wet stone nose! Paired wonderfully with a smoke trout pate. Very complex palate, citrus, hint of clove/allspice, as it warms lime notes with Granny Smith Apple. Finish lingers with a mouth watering citrus saline/ocean spray finish, very nice — 7 years ago
Olives out of the bottle! Opens up to reveal Granny Smith Apple, deep, rich oakiness. This wine is huge, unfurling over the course of two hours to reveal layer upon layer of smokiness, deep rich orchard fruit, white raisins, honey, and toffee. Massive and a bit boozy on the release. — 8 years ago
Nice bit of spice! Accidentally left it in the freezer too long and now it's a bit of a slushie, though. Dammit. — 8 years ago
Smith second bottle. Tannis, some hint of fruit - perhaps strawberry? Dry finish - makes me think of licorice. Definitely my favorite Frenchman neighbor. — 9 years ago
