I used an Ah-So which ended up being merely a precaution since the top of the cork looked a bit dry. Turns out it was fine. Acidity was stunning at 15 years, some dried fruit on top of cherry compote with ethereal traces of tannins at the end. Delicious SRH Pinot Noir. Lots of sun drenched orchard fruit on the nose, confirmed on the palate. Ripe pear and apple, some baking spices but not overpowering. Medium plus finish. I think the balance of the fruit and acidity is off; 14.1 percent abv; if it was 13-13.5 with a slightly less ripe fruit profile and more acid it would be better. — 8 months ago

This wine has it all... has converted me to having faith in the potential of American Pinots. Nose is strong violets with undifferentiated fruit. Black cherry, raspberry, wet earth and mushrooms, with chestnut, pecan and plum. Tart cherry and ripe red cherry meet dried black cherry, lavender, and rose petal, sweet cranberry, dried raspberry, smoke and cola. Generous Pinot from older vines, that exhibits structure and integrity. Iconic.

Star bright straw gold. Abundant funky nose of burning citrus and funghi. Medium palate is much cleaner than the nose yielding toasted lemon, white guava, and white pepper with a bit of birch on the finish. Medium plus acidity. Medium finish. A fine example of California Fumé style SB. Okay as a sipper, but built for a meal. Swordfish and scallops come racing to mind, but any white fleshed fish or shellfish should pair wonderfully. 2023 vintage. PNP. Complicated stuff and not for the uninitiated. Needed at least two hours open/an hour in a decanter. Light body with dirt, earth, shrooms, orange peel so not exactly plushy. Would love to catch this in a half-decade.
