Excellent example of a SA white — 9 years ago
One of my favourite Syrahs in SA. 2009 great vintage; still tight & will age beautifully. But if you can't wait like me, 2012 is a real treat to drink now when decanted — 9 years ago
Comfortably spicy. Perfect fit with today's mood. — 10 years ago

Fantastic white. One of the better producers from SA. Mr Russell used to be chairman of an ad agency before turning wine producer. Vineyard is closed to the sea with a breeze that cools the vines. Buttery, restrained yet complex. Yumm! — 11 years ago
Toasted hazelnut, caramel, warm bread, good minerality, fine bubbles — 11 years ago

Big and bold. Nice blend. Smooth. — 12 years ago
Mix of garnet and ruby red. Love the classic South African nose with chalk, tomato, some light greenery, dark cocoa and very tight black berries. Great structure and moderate plus body. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) with a long finish. Savory on the palate with some dark cocoa and berries. Layered and even some leather in it. Stunning QPR and great Cabernet from SA! Drink till 2020. — 9 years ago
Like many Mediterranean islands, Mallorca hosts unusual indigenous grapes, like the Mante Negro, blended with Callet & Cab Sauv. There's the high-toned acidity of blackberries with a licorice taste, a perfume of herbs like lemon balm & juniper & rosemary, with elements of earthy gravel & saline winds. This 'Montenegro' reminds me of a Mt. Etna Nerello Mascalese crossed w Sardinian Cannonau. I'll be back for more! — 9 years ago
Amazing flavours. Quite fruity, with a long dry finish one can taste why 2009 was a good year for wine in SA. — 10 years ago

My second favorite wine from SA ever! Sadly, my favorite is unavailable in MD. Come to think of it, this one isn't available in Maryland either... — 10 years ago
Terrific SB from SA. Ripe and flavorful but clean. Manages that perfect synchronicity that I love in SB. — 11 years ago

This is the 2009 Shaw and Smith Shiraz not the Chardonnay at the Shaw & Smith comparative Shiraz tasting. Lovely nose of savoury plum. No whole bunch which the 2015 and later vintages now employ. Richer and more traditional SA Shiraz in the 2009. — 8 years ago
