LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!! — 6 years ago
I have opened tonight the 2012 Saarloos & Sons Family Tree, a blend of 40% Grenace Noir, 30% Stray and 30% Mourvedre. Keith Saarloos and family do a wonderful job in making their wines.
On the nose there is blackberry, black cherry, strawberry, plum, vanilla, pepper, floral notes of violet, gravel and sweet oak.
Th palate reveals notes of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, strawberry, licorice, vanilla, chocolate, white pepper and oak.
This wine has a full soft mouth feel with medium acidity, medium smooth tannins that lead to a medium long finish. An enjoyable wine to have alone or with others. Have a great week this week and please be healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 7 years ago

Very nice last two of this vintage but many fond memories with this great blend — 8 years ago
Lots of fruit and tobacco. Fuller bodied and more interesting than a lot of pinots. — 9 years ago
Good fruity flavor, great nose, could probably stand to age a couple of years but still solid! — 9 years ago
Dark ruby red to purple. High alc, high tannin, med acid. Typical cab nose and flavor. Strong cassis, blackberry. Some dark chocolate and licorice. Would definitely be better with aging to allow the tannins to soften and balance out. Right now the alc and tannin overpower the rest of the wine. The label says optimum 2025 and I could believe it. — 11 years ago

This past Saturday I attended a get together with close friends. We opened the 2014 Saarloos & Sons Family Tree Rhone Blend. 55% Grenache, 27% Mourvedre and 18% Syrah. This was the hit of the evening that turned heads and got people talking.
The nose was light with cherry, raspberry, plum, cinnamon, black pepper, anise, roses and an earthy gravel.
On the palate was beautiful fruit of black cherry, blackberry, plum, black pepper, anise , clove and a good gravel component.
The wine was soft velvety smooth with a medium mouth feel and medium to plus acidity with medium smooth tannin that leads to a medium long finish. A very enjoyable wine. Almost the weekend please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 years ago
The more restrained wine from this producer. Has a touch more length and intensity than the Romulus. — 8 years ago

This past November I visited Los Olivos, CA and the whole purpose was to visit Saarloos & Sons Winery and become more familiar with their wine. After spending the morning with Kieth Saarloos the owner I learned a lot about his family values and the heart and love he puts into his wines. Needless to say I became a wine club member. Their wines can only be purchased by becoming a member, at their shop in Los Olivos or online.
Tonight I have opened the 2013 Wolfhonden Petit Verdot. On the nose there is big dark fruit, plum, blackberry, blueberry and some black cherry.
On the palate I get big black cherry, plum, sage, dried herbs and a touch of smokey oak.
This is a full bodied wine with medium + acidity and smooth rounded tannins. A very well balanced wine with everything in order.
Keith Saarloos and Saarloos & Sons Winery does a very nice job with their wines. I recommend if ever in the Los Olivos, CA area to drop in and visit their tasting room. — 8 years ago
