Light body and very "Pinot Noir" like. Bright red cherry and strawberry flavors. Mild tannins and light oak. Hint of smoke. Refreshing. Chill it a bit below cellar temp. Great story about the winery. A Mt. Etna lava flow just went around them 30 years ago. β 9 years ago
Suddenly fresh, almost feezing, fruity and tender like an embracement. β 9 years ago
2001 Benjamin Romeo Contador Rioja. Drank w Doug and Mona at Baco. K really liked this wine. Had an interesting, complex nose of chocolate, coffee, and game. Interesting and great with the food. β 9 years ago
Had at the restaurant in Bavaria. Fantastic with lamb. Buy in bulk if price is right. Likely ages well. β 10 years ago
I owe this one to Brian McClintick MS and proprietor of Les Marchands in Santa Barbara. After trying our first bottle over the holidays we ordered in a case as the supply is limited. Micro bubbles in a bright, toasty sparkly that has depth, balance and a gorgeous flavor that reminds the palate of truffle pop corn, green apple and the Romeo e Julieta you smoked the day before. β 10 years ago

A really fascinating rose blend from Mount Aetna. Has the high acidity and even some minerality that wines on those slopes yield. First thought: like a very light, unsweet version of Cran-grape juice. Thereβs only a whisper of fruit, maybe some light strawberry, lemon, hibiscus. High acidity and alcohol plus tartness make this a stellar, STELLAR wine. Amazed and canβt wait for more. β 7 years ago
Continuing to work my way through Beau Vigneβs line-up. To date, Iβve had their Cult, Romeo, and Old Rutherford.
This was poured for us when we visited a year ago, but I have no recollection...thankfully my wife does as she loves Zins. Talk about aromatics! Like a velvet glove punch to the face...wraps you with lavender, blueberries, blackberry pie, milk chocolate. The palate invokes more red fruit but also some bacon fat. The finish ends up being fairly peppercorn/spice driven, which I enjoy with Zins.
Sometimes you just crave bold, unabashed zin and this fits the bill. Havenβt had many Carlisle, Bedrock, Ridge or Turley, but this and Jessupβs zin are delicious. β 7 years ago
Subtle and pleasant. Not so much true to the Romeo and Juliet name but still a nice bubbly. Dry with a hint of sweetness that isn't overwhelming. β 8 years ago
@Martin G Rivard !!!!! Thank you for the VIP tasting hook-up! What gorgeous wines. We lucked out that they are across the street from where we are staying in Yountville. The Romeo and Cult were unreal. My wife is a zin lover and told me their zin was one of her favorites...after I tried it, I agreed! But the Cult...π. Goodness, talk about beautiful. All the big and dark fruits on the nose and you expect it to punish the tongue with tannins, but it's super soft! What a surprise. Thank you Martin for this introduction! We will definitely be buying more! β 8 years ago

Back to why I fell in love with wine at first! The Ripasso method comes from the city of Verona where Romeo and Juliet's tragedy takes place. With a bright ruby color, dry and sour fruit, pomegranate and rose. Long finish and med+ body, it's got a Love story to tell you #madewithlove β 10 years ago

Drinking this Northern Italian wine, family produced at the foot of the Alps for 7-generations one can almost imagine pulling over in your Alfa Romeo to have a light lunch and taste the local wines. Smooth, rich, even elegant this full-bodied red will be the perfect accompaniment. Another under the radar find at Metrovino, Calgary. DOC, 13% alc/vol ~$21.00 CAD Cheers π· β 6 years ago
