Coffee rye with baked, black currants, dried blackberry, cherrywood, cedar, light pepper, potable, African violet, fig, sarsaparilla and thyme. Grippy, grainy tannins awash in tart black cherry, cinnamon and savory. Young and green with tight tart edges, but open just enough to appreciated the complexities. Underrated sleeper vintage that just might come together. Finish is obfuscated at this juncture. Espresso is my guess, though!

One more example of why I obsess over 1991 California cabs. Your nose is greeted with the whiff of an antique furniture store that soon gives way to red fruit, cedar and earth. The first thing you notice when you start to drink this gem is the vibrant acidity. The palate follows the nose only to be joined by slow resolving tannins. You cannot ask for a more graceful package. — 4 months ago
Excellent cab, very dark notes and fruits. Smoothed out the longer it was opened so the smoke and charcoal dissipated. Bought at smyrna beverage warehouse for $99. — 5 months ago
A sublime Napa Pinot Noir: light and delicate, yet hearty on the middle of the tongue with a smooth red fruit forward finish that brings it all home. Perfect pair with a red meat meal or will do quite well solo with a light snack. Bravo! — 9 months ago

Such a storied brand, it was a treat to finally try this. Opulent black bramble fruit with that Tuscan earthy spice on the nose. Hard to deny this was opened far too young as I imagine it would really be singing in 10 years. Lovely acidity, exquisite tannins on the finish. Next time it only makes sense to drink an aged wine of this caliber. #sassicaia — 3 months ago
Very deep ruby , ruby rim, shockingly young . Very closed still , mineral , creme de cassis , dark and meaty , grafite , chestnut . On the palate very tight and young , cassis with dark blackcurrant , cedar , tobacco and granite . Concentrated but balanced at the same time , gritty tannins , balanced acidity. Long and complex on the finish , with mineral , grafite notes . A great wine surely , this is so young and with huge potential. I suppose more impressive than enjoyable at this stage. This needs time in bottle, maybe come back in 5 years and will last a further 20-30 . — 4 months ago
The color and nose painted a promising picture but there wasn't much structure left. it was still pleasurable to drink. Just a few years past it's peak.. — 6 months ago
2023 summer. Still lots of dark berry fruit and powdery density - it would be even better bwith 10 more years, but tasty and engaging now — 8 months ago
Delicious! Heavier than my normal pinot noirs but extremely smooth with good flavor. Would definitely drink again. — 6 years ago
Sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet. Apricot/peach notes. Good to drink at a cloudy, breezy afternoon. — 8 years ago
Clear, minimal sediment with a light body, medium alcohol on the nose — 10 years ago
Royal St. Robert Cuvee named in honor of Dante and Carlo Mondavi's grandfather who taught them to be committed to excellence. Medium Ruby color with layered aromas of fresh berry fruits with floral and smoky spice notes. On the palate flavors of strawberry and raspberry with cigar box, oak, tea, citrus and herb floral notes. Well balanced, savory fine tannins, long finish ending with oaky earthy notes. Very nice! — 4 months ago
2013 | Pinot Noir
Domaine Robert Chevillon; Village Vieilles Vignes
Burgundy; Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges, France
(91-93; drink 2028-38)
Lots of powerful cherry and stem-like notes from a standard vintage, not a glass I'd pass over.
Paired to duck confit (D'Artagnan) over green/red lentils with a hit of Dijon mustard to get the acid balance to perfection. — 4 months ago
It is a dark purple wine, with a nose featuring ripe blackberries and cassis, vanilla, tar, cigar and clove. The palate is quite nice, with cherry, blueberry and raspberry flavors draped with a bit of oak spice and offering a silky set of tannins. I paired it with a rib eye and used it in my skillet mushrooms. The wife gave me a big thumbs up, so I know it worked. — 8 months ago
Tasting Group 5/24/20. 2-meter café @ Corison Winery. My 3rd, Group 1st. Brett but still fruity. Red currants. Nice acidity — 4 years ago
This wine exceeded expectations. Though the restaurant could have served it much colder (their food was excellent BTW). — 7 years ago

Some specials on today at the Chelsea lounge at JFK. Thought I’d ask and look what we got. It doesn’t have as much of the typical Dom taste for me and it is still very very young, definitely still a baby. Great nose and packs a lot of citrusy flavors - they will certainly mellow over the years. Not a bad rendition, not quite hitting the super high marks with me right now, but very pleasant early p.m. bubbly on this holiday — 3 months ago
