Barbera d'Alba 2017

Treiso zone of Barbaresco. White marl, clay-calcareous alternated with sand. Southeast exposure. Aged in large oaks, stainless steel and concrete vats for 1.5 years after harvest. Such an elegant Barbera, extremely aromatic boutique of rose, herbs and spices. Beautiful acidity balanced by a plum jammy finish. Delicious! — 4 years ago

Riserva Boito Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2013

Amazing. Potential to age. Sweet red fruit sits on top of bags of fine tannin. Not too much of anything. Perfect balance. Longggggg. — 4 years ago

It's settled. My Italy-based Rizzi bottles taste better than those from my D.C. collection. — 7 years ago

Robert Parker , I believed, made a similar observation about French wines.

@Hugh O'Riordan , actually I'm a huge fan of their wines. The bottles I've had in the US are still good but sometimes seemed less acidic and refreshing. It could have just been the food. More likely, it's an example of a few bottles inexplicably behaving strangely.

This review is a bit biased as I'm sipping the wine at Monte Argentario as the sun is setting. But this wine tastes great! Perfect on a warm summer evening with a slightly cool breeze. Don't forget the formaggio! — 9 years ago

Nani Rizzi Brut Valdobbiadene Prosecco

Best Prosecco we've had in a while. Doesn't hurt that it accompanied the best meal in Italy so far. Dry but delightfully refreshing. No bitter finish. — 10 years ago
