Very old world and very Italian. Authentic. Potent aromatics. Plum and sour cherry, tobacco, worn leather, fennel seed, and decaying flowers. Barbera d'Asti and d'Alba receive a lot of attention for the value provided, and this is certainly no exception. Not to mention Monferrato is Barbera's origin, or at least its earliest record. — 9 years ago
I'm like a skipping record with these Pupillins but the initial shipment was 'impressive' size so the repeats are so inevitable.
This one was much better than the last ones. The tanin / acidity hookup here was really different and I can't say why. Three months on a rack surely can't be reason? — 9 years ago
Let it open and you will enjoy — 10 years ago
For the record very good with microwave pizza at 2am. Very herbal and dark plum fruit. — 10 years ago
Medium brilliant gold. Apples, lemon cream, and wet stones on the nose. The palate mimics the nose, with a whisper of vanilla. Crisp, lingering acid and a lacy long finish. Perfect match for tonight's roasted chicken. My record say I paid about $18 at the cellar door. Hard to believe. — 11 years ago
Easy drinking bordeaux, st emilion produces great reds with a lovely minerality and this one will trend towards the less mineral side. Drank on its own with an indie folk record (Houndmouth) — 7 years ago
2010 Rippon Mature Vine Pinot Noir & Harold Alexander’s Soul Jazz masterpiece Sunshine Man. New Zealand Pinot continues to be a revelation, and this one is terrific. This record is layered and detailed, yet remains exuberant and easy to love. The wine fits the exact same description. — 7 years ago
Pretty solid for the low price tag — 8 years ago
I like it enough to remember to open this app to record it. Goes excellent with chocolate and Doctor Who on a Friday night. — 9 years ago
2011 was a fantastic year for Record Vintage Ports. Ideally hold a few bottle 10-35 years (2021-2046) — 10 years ago
I drank this at their open house, and at the time I thought it was one of the best 2011's we tasted. This is another example of a wine that will have the "experts" pondering the 2011 vintage. This may be similar to a 2003 for selected wineries. I'll go on the record that I like it - a lot. — 10 years ago
This Pinot is the ultimate testament to the '11 vintage & why it was one of my favorite years on record here in the Willamette Valley. Nose of black cherry, blueberry and intense white pepper highlighted by earth. Gorgeous acidity dances on the palate while rounding out the mix of red and black fruits. Super fine tannins on the finish are well integrated with its vibrant acidity. Finish is light and elegant, like a Pinot should be. Bliss. — 11 years ago
For the record, this was white. Gros Manseng, to be precise. — 11 years ago
2014 Amiot Chassagnes-Montrachet 1er Cru “Les Caillerets”. Fresh floral aromatics. The palate is a little boiled up, but once open it has a shimmering freshness that creates the danger of guzzling. This record is a fantastic document of a pious artist feeling the spirit. Impossible to engage these without seeing your mood improve. — 7 years ago
Drinking very nicely for a vintage that has not had great record of compliments. Nice blend that has silky flow of currant. — 7 years ago
This is a nice, youthful St Emilion that has not had the chance to develop the manure, bretty side. Still quite a bit of raspberry on the nose, black cherry on the entry. Wine is medium bodied. There was a 95 St Emilion that I was not able to record, and compared to that wine, this one was much more complicated and intricate. Tannins still rather present, but don't really mute the finish of the wine all that much. Not too sure that this one is worth the price tag. — 7 years ago
Friday nights wine comes from the right bank of Bordeaux - Canon Fronsac. The 2010 Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The Herve family first started making wine back in 1890 and continue to today. A great track record and delivering a well valued Bordeaux.
The nose is very expressive with dark fruits of black plum, blackberry, black currant, licorice, clove, coffee beans and tar.
Upon first sip black cherries jump out at you full force, with blueberries, a smooth coating of creme de cassis and dried oregano.
There is a nice full bodied mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium sandy tannins.
For the price this is a very nice and serviceable Bordeaux.
Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷 — 9 years ago
Only after googling this wine I -oddly- came to know that terroir authority, saxophone player and owner Pedro Parra got inspiration from jazz record label Blue Note for this eye-catching wine label. But that's only the tip of the iceberg! A juicy, extremely refreshing, light-bodied red from Carignan and Malbec a.o, a multi blend that is different every year. My grandfather, a renowned local-drunk traveled every season to Cauquenes (a coastal, dry-farmed spot south of Santiago) to buy a number of demijohns for his own consumption, and I suspect that that wine tasted more or less like this. It's funny how young and iconoclasts winemakers are bringing Chile back to its roots by looking at the future. If you ever come across this wine don't think twice and buy a good number in the spirit of savvy drinkers like my grandad. @WineTraining @Dusan Bradanovich — 10 years ago
WHAT IS THIS?!?! ITS LIKE A CAN RECORD. — 10 years ago
Yeast, yeast, yeast! Lovely aroma of bread and superbly tiny bubbles. My nose was so delighted, my brain forgot to record the nuances of taste! Perhaps after one more bottle I can write a proper description. — 11 years ago
Was really concerned with this one for some reason but it turned out to be nice...a little fruit forward, very smooth, easy to drink. Didn't really have an Italian feel for the record — 11 years ago
Three Bonarda'a in one night is a record for me — 12 years ago

The 2014 Mouton is midweight but packs a punch. Great intensity of fruit, particularly blackberries, but also great freshness too. Mint, minerality pop up just before a spicy finish through which the vibrancy is maintained with the wine's attractive acidity. This wine is pure class. (It's also worth mentioning that the label is by David Hockney, whose Pool just set a record for the most expensive painting ever sold by a living artist, at a mere $90.2m at Christie's in NYC!) — 7 years ago
