Super delicious other than that Brett creeping in... — 10 years ago
1936 vintage. Mahogany. Very rich nose. Dried fruits, cinamon and Rancio. Silky, warming alcohol, raisin and vanilla, sweet spice, slight rustic hit of alcohol. Good length. Not as elegant as the '45. — 10 years ago
Opulent, with this 2007 showing a whiff of incense & rancio, it reminds me of church wine-- except this is my kind of church. Makes me want curried goat or a Korean/Vietnamese feast to see this plush marvel from Languedoc handle a dizzying array of dishes! — 10 years ago
Dry, nutty, rancio,......cooked,....bad wine in the greatest way! Great acidity to cut the mild sweetness. — 11 years ago
Fun. Rancio flavor very dominant. Not great for happy-wine palates. 34EUR at Gal. Lafayette — 11 years ago
Amber golden in colour, nice aromatics of toasted nuts, rancio, raisins. Rich & full, mouthfilling, savoury & salty. Very nice. — 9 years ago
2006 vintage. Strong rancio character, strong nuttiness and acidity. Tastes like a pecan and walnut baklava, made with quince and tangerine syrup. Lots of white flowers. So good: old, yet vigorous and lively. Palate: baked quince, red papaya, guava, red pear, roasted cherry, brown sugar, pecans, walnuts, salted caramel, rich toffee, fresh and candied white flowers, overripe peach, apricot and mango leather with white lokkum (Turkish delight). All of the tantalizing flavors of the Near East in liquid form. Finish that just won't quit. — 10 years ago
Intense wine, very rich and aromatic, multiple layer combining rancio, complexity, great acidity and finesse - another beautiful and unique wine that has much to tell to its drinker as it is history in a bottle #winelover 😃👏 — 10 years ago
Firm Sangiovese structure with a kick of rancio and rustic personality. Dried cherry, savory herb and some creeping barnyard influence. Tasty. — 10 years ago
The best Amontillado I've had so far. Really long lasting flavor profile of dried/sweet nuts, rancio, fresh cut sugar cane, saltiness, and baked apples. — 11 years ago
Robe dorée - nez sur l'ananas et le miel - une pointe de rancio en bouche, en plus d'une acidité soutenue et d'une longueur notable. Top! — 12 years ago
Aromas of mushrooms, underbrush, cassis, blackberries, old leather boots, volate acidity, crushed stones, and black pepper. Rustic, dirty, earthy, dark fruits, leather, dark chocolate, and some rancio notes. Weak but some rustic beauty to it. — 12 years ago

Great balance of sweet flavor and alcohol. — 9 years ago
This is why I love wine. Always something new to learn and try. This gem from 1980 is from Alicante, Spain - Late harvest monastrell grapes that are aged to create an unfortified, rancio character wine due to long aging in large barrels. Perfectly sweet, with savory, oxidative goodness of walnut, toffee, burnt orange peel, ginger, dates, and clover honey. — 10 years ago
The name Ratafia refers to an ancient method of preserving fruit that dates back to the 1300s, usually a liqueur or a fortified wine flavored with peach pits, or bitter almonds. In the case of the Giraud Solera Ratafia de Champagne, it's a golden-glinted blend of 30% Chardonnay and 70% Pinot from the Aÿ. The resulting wine exhibits layered aromas of hazelnuts, orange marmalade, steeped black cherries, coco powder and even a subtle, provocative top note of rancio. Silky smooth, with the weight of a Tawny. — 10 years ago
Big, rich, porty; toffee and rancio. — 10 years ago
Darroze Chateau de Gaube 1970 (2013) 43 year old.
Give the bottle a couple months after you open it and then let it sit in the glass. Take your time. A bit of rancio. — 11 years ago
Smooth, elegant, nutty, sweet, rancio. This is spectacular sherry/Madeira! The best Texas wine there is, hands down. Like a mouthful of dry pecans but sweet and acidic at the same time. Worth every penny! — 12 years ago
Rene Barbier jr.'s rancio that he collected from old forgotten priorat family stashes--lived up to the promise, incredible bone dry sherry character, so good. — 13 years ago

Intensivt gult. Blend av 06/07, lagrat i fem år "sous-voile". Många likheter med sherry, men med något större djup och längd. Bittermandel, citron, knäck och väldigt oxidativ. — 9 years ago
