Woah. To mark the occasion, we’ve got 22 year old wine.

The color on this is just breathtaking. I honestly didn’t think this would be that good because I got the bottle for $25 in a now closed wine shop, Taste Wine. The guy selling it to me didn’t have much to say, so my expectations were set at basically nothing.

Bouquet notes of cheddar, honey, apricot, and marmalade.

Honeycomb, definitely that characteristic petrol. Bae isn’t a huge fan of the aftertaste, but it adds a bit of complexity for me. A slight pear note right at the end. It’s got body and mouthfeel. Color and radiance. What an interesting thing age has done: create maturity and complexity, and most of all beauty. Also just a touch of raspberry on the end note. Just keeps giving and giving.

Also, finally a little bread pudding, this sort of unctuous, sweet, funky note lingers. — 5 years ago

The 2017 Chianti Classico is supple, racy and inviting, with striking textural depth and phenomenal balance. Succulent dark cherry fruit gives the 2017 much of its immediacy and appeal. Silky, plush and exceptionally harmonious, the 2017 captures all of the natural radiance of the year. Sweet floral and spice notes add lift to this sophisticated, beautifully polished Chianti Classico from Montesecondo. Quite simply, this is a phenomenal wine for the vintage. 1990 vintage in magnum. Veuve Cliquot Cave Privee Rose at Mark's Club Veuve Clicquot dinner - Pale peach in colour with good radiance. Constant stream of small bubbles. Lovely concentrated nose of red fruits and freshly cut figs. As the wine gradually opens in the glass, candied strawberries with freshly baked cherry tart rise to prominence. Very elegant across the palate with good weight and a long lingering finish. This is a big, sexy, voluptuous wine. There is nothing subtle here. Think Sophia Lauren in a sable bolero over Deborah Kerr in a lily white dress. This magnum was disgorged in 2011. 93/100. Drink now to 2030.

The 2017 Barbera d'Alba Serra is a delicious wine that captures the richness and radiance of the year while retaining a good bit of freshness as well. Dark red and purplish berry fruit, lavender, rose petal and spice infuse this Barbera with striking nuance and flavor. The 2017 spent eight months in neutral oak. This is such an inviting wine. Fenocchio's 2015 Barolo Cannubi is soft and inviting, with racy curves, expressive aromatics and fine balance. Sweet tobacco, licorice, dried herbs, cedar and sweet red cherry are some of the nuances that emerge. The radiance of the vintage is evident in the wine's ripe profile and slightly forward flavors.
