Had this at chef Avillez’s Bairro in Lisbon’s Chiado neighborhood. First time trying a Dao DOC wine, and it was splendid. Medium bodied, dark fruit and peppery. The Vinho Verde wine has an herbal and citrus nose and a pleasing yellow-gold tint. The citrus plays a leading role on the palate, but is nearly upstaged by a delightful savory aspect. It’s a nuts-and-fennel feel that wows during the sip and long after.
