I have long loved Dönnhoff, and will continue to extoll its virtues. The Nahe Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett Riesling 2011 is simply put, a pulse-quickening example, with complex aromas of white flowers, Asian pear, shale, mint, and clover honey. On the palate, a tensile, arching backbone interlaced with peach pit and white grapefruit pith adds tension to shale-driven minerality. It's got a wholly appealing, racy, slightly bitter edge delicately rimmed in sea salt. In addition, fantastic length. — 11 years ago
Full-throtal and unapologetic.... The nose is intense, with dark red and black fruit, licorice, coco powder, sweet herbs and exotic spice. On the palate, it displays an explosion of dark ripe fruits with a pulse of zesty acidity, as it travels quickly across the senses, and leaves a bit of heat in the close. The finish shows last notes of blackberry, cherry and licorice with a twang of bitterness on the back palate. — 10 years ago
Great nose. A little too tannic. Maybe just too young. Gonna give it some time. — 10 years ago

Tangy sour cherry with an electric pulse (broke my buying freeze for this one) — 10 years ago
