We loved this one - blackberry and a hint of cherry — 6 years ago
Les Halos de Jupiter began with the 2007 vintage. Les Halos de Jupiter takes its name as you should expect from Jupiter and its halos. Made from 100% old vine Grenache, vines are over 100 years old and planted in the famous La Crau lieu-dit, and aged in year old French oak for 12 months. Deep red with dark fruit aromas with complex spices. Blackberry and cherry, rich full-body with soft tannins, gentle sweetness with some earthy spice ending with mineral notes. Only 125 cases. This is my first exposure to this wine, but definitely won't be the last.....ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! Rich dark fruit, very lush and complex. From back label, "Along the western slopes of Napa Valley in Calistoga, lie 125 acres of premium vineyard. Dr. Kenefick, retired neurosurgeon has farmed these red rock filled soils for over three decades. Kenefick Ranch wines speak of the place, the man, and his vision. 100% estate grown and sustainably farmed. Aged 18 months in French barrique."
The nose was so wonderful, I had to taste before letting it breathe....it was marvelous. It continued to improve in complexity for three hours before it made the best compliment to braised lamb chops. — 10 years ago

It is #FridayCabernetfix time. Here is a gorgeous one from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a wide red/ brick rim. A very pretty color.
On the nose blueberries, black currants, spices, cedar, cooked cherries, black licorice, vanilla, tobacco, green pepper, pencil lead, earth, herbs, light vegetables, dark chocolates, dark coffee and peppercorn. Very nice complexity on the nose.
Medium plus in body and soft, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, wood, light vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, chocolates, earth, light vegetables, bitter herbs and graphite.
Long finish with fine tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder. Showing nice complexity and mouthfeel. Nicely balanced with a tangy and spicy finish.
Not your typical Napa Cabernet, which is nice to see. Showing lots of fruit and earth notes, that make it very interesting.
This 8 year-old from the great 2012 vintage is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and blossom. I had a little taste right out of the bottle, and let it be for 90 minutes. When I came back, what a big difference on the nose, especially, so be patient for that lovely nose.
This is a wine to savor. I loved smelling on it for a long time.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. Great with the Brie cheese.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Reading the reviews, this appears to be a somewhat divisive wine. But I come down squarely in the fan camp, delicious and surprising. Profound aroma. Not quite at the level of Terroir AlLimit, but about $125 cheaper at Bar Isabel and a fine substitute. — 8 years ago

First sparkling Shiraz, amazingly good. tannin paired so well with bubbles. — 9 years ago
Bought it from Aldi! I think it was like 7 euros....absolutely worth it! — 10 years ago

This is a great GSM Blend from Paso Robles. Showing great complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
Needs 3 hours to open up properly, but good after an hour of airtime. Tannins show up after 2 hours in the decanter.
This 15 years old is good by itself or with food. Feels more like a 10 to 15 year old, good quality, Right Bank Bordeaux.
