Ridge Wine Dinner. Almost opaque. Flamboyant nose with notes of black cherry, blueberry, light smoke and walnuts. Still primary. Great finish with perfect balance of fruit, structure and acidity. For me this was the best of the 95/05/12 MB lineup. Needs time. — 8 years ago
Evokes an 80's Mike Tyson, powerful, primary, possibly destined for greatness but creating a fear that unnerves. Appropriately, it socks the nose, cloves, kirsch, leather. Assaults the palate, huge extraction that manages to float, coffee, dark chocolate. Compote left out for a day. Would love to taste this next to any SQN Grenache of similar age...Group was confounded but, like 80s Iron Mike, agreed that it's destined for fame or despair, but will always be interesting. — 9 years ago
Dark cherry, "sweet" dirt, black raisin, dried mushroom, dried jerky, hoisin. Admittedly, the flavors were all over the place, but regardless a very complex wine where the primary fruit flavors are evolving into secondary and tertiary ones. — 9 years ago
Classic Bordeaux, from an overlooked vintage. Great primary cassis and red currant fruits are now accompanying secondary bouquet notes of graphite, leather, and earth. Apologize for the filter on the image, I was drinking! — 10 years ago
Wonderfully enjoyable wine. Seemed very well advanced for such a young pup. Round and balanced with all the right primary fruit aromas layered with developed earth and coffee notes. — 11 years ago
An evening of Lynch-Bages with Stephen Bolger. Included 04 Dom Rose and a 95 Heidsieck Millenaires, ‘16 LB Blanc and the. A beautiful cascade of wines including 1961, 1970, 1975, 1986, 1989, 1996, 2000 and 2005. I would say the 1989 was surprisingly closed and primary and everything after, while still having a beautiful perfume, needed much time. Everything showed beautifully and my personal favorite was actually the 1975 because it was such a tough-as-nails vintage and yet showed a beautiful delicacy. Splitting hairs to pick a favorite. One of my favorite estates just jumped even higher in my estimation! — 7 years ago
Beautifully concentrated dark blue fruit. Lovely salinity and a blueberry intensity. Gorgeously savory palate. Primary, young and brooding. Excellent — 8 years ago
Straw. Classic earthy Krug Brioche nose, super deep and comforting; chestnuts. Firmly acidic, tannic mousse. Primary. Very long but needs many years yet. Structured for an age in the cellar. More impressive now yeah strictly enjoyable. — 10 years ago
Very beautiful wine: bright acid and fresh forward primary aromas; youthful, elegant and complex — 10 years ago
2005 and 2010 Harlan. C'est magnifique! 2005 was slightly more shallow from the last tasting, suggesting the wine is evolving yet again. Still primary, with a bit more earth. The 2010 - spectacular. Need more of this, particularly in large formats. Built for the ages. Really love these wines in moderate to cool years so the terroir gets a chance to shine. Bravo — 10 years ago
2002 - at 16yr old this is still very much a baby. Still primary but with incredible balance on a finish that just doesn’t quit. You can see the potential here as there are easily 20-30 years of further development. I hope I can keep my hands off the rest of the bottles to one day see it at it’s peek - it’s easy to see why these go for the prices they do. World class! — 7 years ago
From the other night. Popped and poured. Consumed over three hours. Compared to the 2014 Marcoux we had before, this is a ride to funky town. Super concentrated dark cherries and garrigue on the nose. Tart cherries and spices on the palate. Nice concentration but quite primary at this stage and much stiffer tannins than the Marcoux. In typical Pegau fashion, this should age quite nicely. Drink now with patience; good through 2024 at least. — 8 years ago
This 2007 still appears quite young at this stage, much more so than other recently tasted '07 Bordeaux wines. The nose was initially very primary, with plum, blackberry, and raspberry. Over time, it did develop some truffle and earth aromas. Lots of vanilla on the nose as well. On the palate, it appeared a bit forward, and the acidity stood out a bit. Prominent round tannins. The balance just isn't there yet at this stage. I would give this wine a couple of years before opening a bottle, or give it a lot of air. The fruit is very pure and ripe, so this could develop into something very nice. — 9 years ago
Lt gold. Heavy in the glass. Nose of sweet citrus, honeysuckle and garden stone. Very rich and glycerol in the mouth. Still primary. Nice fruit, structure and acidity balance. Great finish. Drink now or cross your fingers that with more age it remains this good. — 9 years ago
Flashed chocolate, and some primary fruits before subsiding into a meaty mushroom earthy cloud of deliciousness with that lovely combo of integrated oak and dark prune minerality. Great time to drink this. — 10 years ago
Ripe red fruit. Healthy showing of spice and tobacco. Silky mouthfeel, lifted weight. Clean acid. Drinking well, however still primary with glimpses of depth and age. Excited to watch this go for the long haul. — 10 years ago
Nice drinking table red — 11 years ago

Quite elegantly red fruited, a bit of musk and savory notes, but surprisingly primary. Compared to the ‘89, this is lighter in structure, almost airy, but with years of life left. — 7 years ago
