Cuvée Tour Joviac La Prieuré d'Arras St. Joseph Syrah 2014

This is a 100 % organic Syrah grown on decomposed granite hillsides in Saint Joseph, displaying violet, ripe black fruits with hint of dried blueberry, black pepper and vanilla. Slightly musky, dusty, med plus body with great acidity and med plus tannin. A wonderful Saint Joseph has depth, structure, and fruitiness. — 6 years ago

9.4

Both mineral and powerful, elegant and deep, floral and spicy. My mind goes back and forth while drinking this. It's light and pure but also a little tannic. Great wine. Sulphur is only used (a little) during bottling when the wine is in need for it. Natural winemaking without dogma's. Philippe Pacalet was trained by Jules Chauvet (the father of the natural wine movement and compatriot of his oncle Marcel Lapiere) and later at Domaine Prieuré-Roch. — 10 years ago

Vosne Romanee Clos Goillotte Red Blend 1993

Dominated by tertiary characteristics, but at 25 years old the fruit was still fairly expressive. The beauty of this bottle was the the gamey, herbal, savory notes. — 7 years ago

Clos des Argillières Nuits St. Georges Pinot Noir 2009

2009 vintage. At Texture. Medium ruby hue - slightly muddy. Huge hit of raspberry, smoke, cinnamon and woodland flowers. Some chocolate and tan notes. On the palate, quite big - medium plus body. Decent acidity. Medium chewy tannins. Not a whole lot of finesse. More about power. Good finish. NB with air, coffee bean notes to the fore. — 10 years ago

Les Suchots Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

2010 vintage. Les Suchots. From magnum. At Texture. Succulent, ripe, red berry compot, sweet smelling - very youthful. Very bright and lifted. On the palate, wonderful texture. Again lifted nature of this wine compared to the Nuits St Georges. Integrated medium minus tannins. Some cedar notes. Great length. Very enjoyable. Very long path in front of this wine. — 10 years ago
