12/24/20 (Out of Magmun) Immense and dark ruby-black in color the nose offers mature currant coffee sage and dusty berry and anise flavors that have some youthful nuances. Complex and concentrated it's well-focused and appealing...... A perfect score.🥰💯 — 5 years ago
2nd bottle was the wine of the night, impeccably stored, still intense dark berry fruit intensity, outstanding. — 8 years ago
Wow this 11 is up there with 09 for me @ £120 & less subtle than 10 & 13 - my kind of Sass 93-95 going 96-98 👏 20yrs in this beauty 😍

Ah! Silver Oak. Drank while watching Packers lose. So enjoyable. This is the Alexander Valley Cab from 2008. Great vintage, smooth cherry/dark berry fruit. Love 2008 vintage with its burst of fruit and subtle licorice finish — 10 years ago
Great wine. Nice fruit. Changed a bit after it was decanted for an hour. Even more berry/fruit. — 10 years ago
Good berry flavor. 100% best one I’ve had so far — 5 years ago
Dr. Steve Brule gets a 10! Drank the 3L at the ranch. Worth it!!! — 5 years ago
Consumed 03/2020. It is an appellation of Monterey county 56%, Santa Barbara County 26%, and Sonoma County 18%. It is a layered blend with spice filled aromas, bright berry flavors and rich textures. — 6 years ago
Delightful bouquet full of candies berry landing on the palate with lots of layered flavor - fig, blackberry, licorice - and just a little glycerol, but a nice lingering and headed length. Might last longer still if I didn’t need another swirl and sip before it passed ;). Good value under $24 — 7 years ago
Intense raspberry on the nose with hints of smoke. Amazed how time has tamed this wine. Rich and lush red fruit this has successfully transformed itself. Reverberated in every nook and cranny of my mouth Carries its alcohol effortlessly. Last of 3 bottles and this one was head and shoulders better than the previous 2. — 9 years ago
Very complex, perfectly balanced a ton of fruit with savory Syrah notes. Very special. — 10 years ago
Crazy awesome. Tons of black pepper, smoke, tobacco and bacon fat. Luscious dark fruits. Very fruit forward palate. Waaaaaay too young. — 10 years ago
Very nice pinot noir but not traditional by pinot standards. Very clean and complex. Layers of great berry fruit and spice. Interesting textures. Very pleasant finish. — 11 years ago
Highly enjoyed this half bottle! Full bodies, rich, subtle notes of berry and chocolates! — 12 years ago

Really like this. Complex on front and middle. Let's you know it's here for the full experience — 4 years ago
2005 Vintage. 16.4% Alcohol. 93% Grenache, 7% Syrah. Wow, this wine was stunning. Cork broke in two using the lever screwpull but saved it with a hand corkscrew for the remaining half inch. Even under the intact wax cap. Found it hidden in double deep racking on the white/rose side of my cellar. Big fruit and velvety mouthfeel. Not obviously hot, but packed a punch! — 5 years ago
Wow, are you kidding me? £32 for this amazing aged Pomerol from a top Chateau - worth every penny/cent 👍 In a perfect peak spot right now 😉

Wow. This is young, and the nose is a bit of dark red berry suffusing a sea of resolving American Oak. The American oak is so pronounced that, had I tasted this blind, I might have taken it for Ridge... :) This has decades ahead, even if -only- a Riserva. Like La Rioja Alta 904, a fantastic value in old school Rioja... — 8 years ago
Love what Pax has done over the years. I have a few bottles of his 2003 Griffins Layer... It's a beautiful wine that is probably mind-blowing at this point; however, this wine shows restraint, refinement and a sense of place. Looking forward to owning a bottle in a few years. — 9 years ago

I’ve got lots of love for these wines, but I always struggle with when to open. They are fantastic young and equally fantastic with age. Jeb said of this wine, “the greatest GSM blend from California, ever.”, and stamped it with a perfect score. Strong praise, and while I’m not there, I don’t regret opening this.
Consumed from decanter the first 2-3hrs before decanting back to bottle and finishing the remaining third later in the evening. Much better later in the day. Wound up tight initially. Classical high end Paso with this distinct airy-jammyness. So much going on with squeezed blackberries, peppercorn, lots of kirsch. Some garrigue. Mouth coating and a total wave of flavor on the palate…black fruit, cherry cordial, cherry drizzled smoked meats. It’s both supremely juicy and hauntingly tannic at the finish. Even with time to open, the ABV makes itself known, but you know that going in. If you like the style, it’s hard to beat. — 2 years ago
