Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Deep red fruit and spice on the nose and coming through on front mouth first blush showing more dark cherry than black fruit (all still slightly tight post aerator-corked bottle pour).. It seems well-balanced with tannins showing slowing the final downhill run offering that finishing touch and back-end memory. This wine shares classic Cali cab notes with slightly brightened fruit, all of which will benefit from a few years in the cave followed by some playtime in a broad-bowled decanter, where its truth will thereafter come to the table.
PS, my guess is that the spice on the nose is largely the result of some newer oak bathing😎 PSS, back @ Matt & Mindy's fabulously folky yet scrumptiously sophisticated Friendly Market just off the bike trail (emphasis added) where you will find very special stuff soundly local with influences from Quebec to NC, at least! 100 years...🌀🌲

Château Beauséjour

Croix de Beausejour Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Creme brûlée is dominant. There’s a beautiful lilt on the tongue. It’s a little darker than I expect. The nose and flavor are heavenly. Vanilla, nutmeg, creme, butter, smooooooooooooth tannins, all create a wonderful playtime in the mouth. 2015 is a brilliant wine you need to buy and drink immediately. — 5 years ago

Cain Vineyard & Winery

Cain Five Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2001

Napa wines are where I got my start and '97-'02 was my playtime, it's great to taste an excellent wine like this 15 years later when people back then said Napa would only age 6-10 years tops. Many like this one can go 20, or in some cases 30 years. Cheers to the #oldschool which seems to be the #newschool. — 8 years ago
