Nice to taste a bottle before it was famous. — 7 years ago
Cousiño Macul’s Premium wine, intense black currant notes, chocolate and mint with a vanilla and slightly bitter tobacco finish with some oaky notes. This is a big wine, better decanted and needs some food to compliment it. Modern new world wine, but after over a decade in bottle quite balanced and good to drink now. — 7 years ago
A merlot with a tannin backbone! The dark cherry profile was subdued by a slight tobacco backstop. Had it with a cold mango pasta salad. Next time it will be with grilled ribeye. Enough tannin to put a case in the cellar.

Light and dry but funky, almost yeasty tannins mixed with berries. Distinct old vine Chilean varietals that I would like to see more of. — 3 years ago
Dark ruby red color. Strong smells of fresh pepper, salsa, pomegranate, and smoke. Pretty healthy tannins with tastes of cherries, plums, minerals, bell peppers, cigar box, and vanilla. Will be pairing with a bowl of chicken chili in an effort to compliment but not overwhelm the peppers. — 5 years ago
Well...I must say that this was one of the more surprising wines I’ve had in a while. Picked up from the bargain-bin at the local Hy-Vee for $9. After opening, it was a bit tedious and, to be honest, I didn’t think it was going to come around. We didn’t finish the bottle so just stuffed the cork back in the bottle and stuck it in the basement. The next day, I wasn’t particularly excited to revisit the bottle but I’m so pleased that I did. Cassis, tobacco, baking spices, leather, and graphite on the nose. Cassis, dark cherry and earth on the palate. The structure propped it all up very well. Long-ish finish...I just didn’t expect this from a 7 year-old grocery store wine. Good with food or on its own. Should last until 2021. — 7 years ago
Really nice wine
— 4 years ago
This is a beautiful Carménère, all earthy and full of savory minerality. The blackberry and black plum aromas creep through the smell of that dirt with tar, forest floor and tobacco all over them. A hint of vanilla sweetens the sniff a bit. On the palate, the dark fruit is draped in sweet oak spice, and you’ll find a bucketful of tannins until the glass has been sitting for awhile. This is a steak wine, intended for a big, juicy piece of beef. — 5 years ago

Big and brooding. Plum, currant, toasty oak, vanilla, and mocha notes. I have long been a big fan of the Medella Real Gran Reserva. Relatively easy to find. Great price. Always reliable. It’s one of those wines that will appeal to both the newly-initiated and experienced tasters. I also love that it’s so multifaceted. You can drink it alone or with a burger, and it has enough structure to pair with a steak. You won’t go wrong always having some of this on hand. — 7 years ago
Ótimo vinho, como a maioria dos vinhos chilenos. — 8 years ago
A very well balanced cab . The tannins and the acidity match , the notes of deep rich red fruits and a smooth Oaked finish are great ... I would buy this again no doubts — 8 years ago
