Nice pink color with red berry fruit aromas tiny bubbles, light mousse. Strawberry flavors on the palate, light citrus and a touch of floral. Good balance, pleasant and fresh. Domaine de Villaine is owned by none other than Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of that most illustrious estate, Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. The little house Villaine is located in Bouzeron, and offers fine quality for money for those looking for a good value. The 2011 is light on fruit, a notoriously difficult vintage, but it has some charm nevertheless with tart cherry notes, cranberry and rose hips on the palate. The acidity is quite high, and the wine begs for food. A nice cheese plate? Yes. — 11 years ago

Banyan is a label belonging to Hobo Wine Co meant to introduce a line of wines that pair more friendly with Asian cuisine. Gewürtztraminer (spicy Traminer) is a pink grape that makes an aromatic, opulent fruity wine. Expect the Monterey county fruit to provide more texture and ripeness than its Germanic counterparts.

Tasted while visiting Devaux, in the Côte de Bar—the house itself, an historic building just off the bank of the river Seine. Thier non-vintage Cuvée Rosée is tutu pink, with a fine bead it offers a pretty sensor arc of rose petals, anise, red berries and pastille mints. Fresh and convivial on the palate, it's not a rosé Champagne of tremendous depth or power, what it communicates is poise and pleasure. Sample — 9 years ago
