😇 I looked up to the sky & the Purple Angel came down upon me filling my glass with light blocking purple ruby rain that oozed aromas of black & blue berries w/ thick chocolate, vanilla, dates, heavenly minerals & smokey oak - “drink this godly juice” she said in a booming voice🍷
I dared embrace the heavenly nectar & succumbed to a full on palate explosion of ripe dark concentrated blackcurrant/berry bathed in raspberry cocoa and minerals💥
My mouth was left open in awe as my purple stained teeth yielded to the long silky fruit loaded intense finish & I myself turned into a naughty purple devil - spank me angel, spank me 😈
🎵 “And through it all she offers me protection l, A lot of love and affection” you’re gonna be singing this all day now 🤣 “And down the waterfall wherever it may take me .. “

Insane. This wine is ridiculous and large in every sense. This is Bevan-esque! So much blue fruit in a velvet glove. For a Melka wine, I was surprised at the softness and accessibility. Hedonistic style. Begs to be enjoyed early...blueberry pie, nutmeg, cocoa nibs, bay leaf, and vanilla extract. Not for the faint of heart! — 7 years ago
Oh, yeah. My Friday's Cabernet fix.
Inky in color with a dark purple rim.
Sweet nose of blueberries, blackberries, sweet cherries, strawberries pie, vanilla, oak, blackberries, ripe plums, licorice, acetone, light cloves and peppercorn.
Full bodied, big and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.
Extremely fruity and Dry on the palate, with dried figs, blackberries, sweet plums, earth, leather, cherries, oak, vanilla, cola, licorice, cedar and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins, spices and black pepper.
This Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County is really enjoyable by itself to sip on. Complex and well balanced.
A Great wine to pair with a nice piece of filet mignon, which is exactly what I did.
It still needs a few years to chill in the bottle, but I loved it as it is.

This is my favorite Pinot Noir ever. It is 2014 Big Table Farm from Willamette Oregon. I am letting it breathe for 30 min in a large decanter. I believe the wine always needs to come out of the bottle and open up. Its almost always different and always better. The cork was is perfect. The color is crimson cherry red. The bouquet is reminiscent of cherry preserves and apple pie. The initial palate is dry fruit. I taste cherries, red delicious apples, and pomegranate. There is a very long finish that is dry but not so much that your tongue shrivels. There is a leather and sparkling fizz that lingers on the tongue. PERFECT score.

From taste: rich brambly cherry liqueur, pine needles and peonies, fresh despite 15% alc, reminds me of barolo...great energy in mouth, quite layered and fragranced. Fine silky tannin, not a lot of acidity incidentally, though finishes quite long and fresh. Alcohol doesn't detract, another fine taste! — 10 years ago
The color is very opaque. The leg drip is 9 seconds at 3/4 glass start to 1/4 glass. The boquet is blackberry pie. There is no tanic / alcohol aroma at all. The initial palate is that of blackberry, currant, cigars, and pepper. The finish is butter. No aftertaste. It is dry, but not over done! Perfection in a wine. Finally!!!!!!!!!!! worth every penny!

If you order wine with your pie at Pizzeria Mozza, this is the one. Dark purple, but light in texture. Let it breathe until the pizza arrives, then enjoy how it amplifies any topping that the restaurant is serving. A knockout! — 11 years ago
To quote Stephen Schwartz from his musical Pippen: "Glory, Glory........Glory, Gloooorrrryyy!!!!!" Holy shit. DRC is always last to pick in Montrachet and the wine is expectedly ripe. Almost tropical fruit. Lemon pie. Over a minute long finish. Had almost 5 months ago and can still smell it. — 12 years ago
Celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday. She prefers champagne over red wine (and she really enjoys red wine) so this was definitely a perfect bottle. Awesome, creamy mousse. Roasted almonds, brioche, and rich key lime pie. This is definitely on the young side, but extremely enjoyable now. Very little tart notes here. Yeasty and chalk driven. Bubbles go forever. I enjoy the more oxidized style champagnes, and while this is maybe more reductive in style, there is an awesome savory/sea salt note steak down the middle of the palate here. — 6 years ago
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Sweet nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices, chocolates, mocha, coffee, cocoa, tobacco and black pepper.
Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Sweet on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cherry pie, figs, raisins, vanilla, oak, licorice, cloves, spices, alcohol, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, earth, peppercorn and coffee.
Long sweet finish.
This portogese Port is always enjoyable. Well balanced with nice complexity.
Not too complex, but very enjoyable by itself. Showing a bit too much alcohol on the palate and better a bit chilled.
I paired it with chocolate covered pomegranates.

Here is a great Napa Valley Merlot for #MerlotThursday.
Inky in color with a short purple rim.
Very fruity on the nose with blackberries, blueberries, figs, raisins, cherry pie, licorice, cedar, vanilla bean, spices, chocolates, medium roast coffee, graphite, beef jerky, peppercorn, earth and light vegetables.
Full bodied, rich and jammy, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, sweet cherries, figs, raisins, oak, licorice, vanilla, spices, earth, vegetables, pencil lead, coffee, mocha, dark chocolates and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a great Napa Merlot. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. A Cabernet lover Merlot.
Good right out of the bottle, but much better after an hour in a decanter.
This 6 years old is drinking very nicely now, and will be good in the next 10 years. As it opens up, it becomes earthier with vegetable notes and bigger tannins.
90 points wine Enthusiasts.
Enjoyable by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of Meats and cheeses, olives and crackers. Delightful and delicious.
A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Dark cherry nose. Heavier in the mouth than your average Pinot with more dark cherry, rhubarb pie, and moderating darker merlot notes. Chewy tannins and long acid in the finish. This is a substantial 100% Pinot with nice balance from start to finish. — 8 years ago

For my 888th review, I chose this wonderful Napa Valley Petite Sirah.
Dark deep purple /almost black, with a purplish rim.
An explosion of ripe black fruits on the nose with blackberries, prunes, dried figs, raisins, plums, raspberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, leather, dirt and black pepper.
Full bodied and bold, with medium plus acidity and long purple legs.
Bone dry and fruity on the palate, with blackberries, figs, raisins, chocolates, prunes, cherry pie, black currants, earth, leather, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with huge, green tannins and bitter spices.
This Napa Petite Syrah is still young and needs 3 more years in the bottle, but it is very enjoyable now, if you can tolerate the big tannings, or if you have it with BBQ Meats.
I enjoyed it by itself, by the pool. Not fully balanced, yet it has enough acidity and tannings to last it for a long while. This 2012 vintage is very ripe and very enjoyable.

Lip smacking yummy. This wine has been just straight up fun. Obviously cherry flavors with layers of raspberry and toasty bread. Not super complex, a little high in alcohol, and very light bodied. I think the price is a touch high but hell I didn't pay for it so bottoms up! — 9 years ago
The 2014 Mattaison Napa Valley Rosé is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Counoise from the Windmill Vineyard. I love this wine because what it communicates is restraint and tensile minerality as one would find in a good Provence rosé. Delicate floral aromas, slightly underripe white peaches, and white hand soap lend dimension to a lithe frame that has a subtle and demure touch of creaminess in the background. White plum skins and pie cherries crescendo before slowly unwinding. 11.2% ABV | Sample — 10 years ago
Very delightful Pinot. Was afraid it would be too sweet based on the label but certainly not the case at All! Lovely wine. Gift from my brother and sister in law <3 — 11 years ago

Day 2 of Napa in the books!
20yrs young! This was also served to us blind and we all guessed it was mid-late 2000s Seavey Cab. All the red and black fruit notes are still present with mellowed out tannin. Very smooth and polished. Big note of baked mixed berry (cherry, blackberry) pie that is covered in a cloud of sweet vanilla pipe tobacco. Ripe & rich up front, savory in the middle, balanced finish. Incredible for its age. — 6 years ago
WNH event number 4. Perfect Pizza Pairing bottles. Not a bad bottle in the bunch!
Another bottle in the running for WOTW (weekend) so far. Blueberries, graham cracker and fresh squeezed blackberries in the nose. Rich and full bodied on the palate with silky structure. Milk chocolate covered dates, and baked mixed berry pie. Hedonistic and wonderful. Killer bottle @Eric LaMasters ! — 6 years ago

Finally trying Cherry Pie (from Hundred Acre). 3 different single vineyard Pinots from 2012. Stanly Ranch is dynamite (and a vineyard to keep an eye on). Reminiscent of Kosta Browne. Next up is Rodgers Creek. Darker fruit. Less explosive, but a nice wine. Third up is Carinalli. Way lighter, though some spice to it. It's fine, but doesn't hold a candle to the other two. (Thanks Mastro's in Scottsdale for hosting me!) — 9 years ago
I've never had mead before, as I usually don't care for white wines unless I'm cooking with them. But I came across this gem, and I found myself unable to put it down. It provides an opulent honey flavor that isn't uncomfortably sweet. It accents most flavorful stir-fries, such as Chinese or Thai, and can even be enjoyed without being accompanied by any foods at all. I intend to have a case of this in stock at all times, and I recommend this to any red or white wine lover. — 11 years ago
