Dismissed by many as too jammy or too ripe, I’ve always thought this is the fun bottling. This ‘21 is no exception. Beneath the slightly over extracted ripe dark fruits lies quite complex aromas and flavors of figs, sweet spices, dark chocolate, smoke meat, and hint of balsamic. Rich palate but not overbearing. In a good vintage like ‘21, this can benefit for 5-8 years of bottle age.
My guilty pleasure. — 5 months ago
the spooky label is what drew me in. trader joe’s suggested pairing this wine with mexican food, so naturally we sipped with a beautiful array of cheeses and crackers while viewing the bachelorette finale. it was divine. would def buy again. — 8 months ago

If aliens landed and asked "What does earth wine taste like?", I would hand them a bottle of this. 👽🍷 Not because I think it's the best earth has to offer but because I think it's a good representation of what fermented grapes taste like. That being said, it is definitely on the sweet side but I think it's a nice blend. — 6 years ago

Definitely needs to open up. Was sweet on the first sip. Significant fruit tones at the outset and got dry as it opened. I would give it a good half hour and drink and enjoy. Solid choice. — 9 years ago

2013 vintage. The second wine of La Chapelle, that is now named " Maison Bleue", but an excellent wine in its own right. At 9 years old this is absolutely gorgeous with an expressive nose of blackberries, wild flowers, pepper and leather, enhanced by a subtle smokiness. In the mouth it combines power with elegance, with pure fruit, subtle spices, silky tannins and great length. Terrific value if the mythical La Chappelle doesn't fit your budget.
