Nothing quite like Krug after passing level II — 10 years ago
Fruit driven, big Pinot. Berry — 10 years ago
Second of the three wines to celebrate passing with distinction on the WSET 2.
Deep purplish ruby red. Mute nose with dark black and red fruits. Some dark cocoa and pencil shavings too. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Rounded but tight to start with notes of dark raspberries, cedar, spices and cinnamon. Long and very dry finish with lots of dark minerality. Drink till 2027.
Still a baby Merlot-led Bordeaux blend that definitely needs a solid hour to two hour decant. — 8 years ago
Iighter than the Barossa mataro but lots of punch. — 8 years ago
Perfect for passing out candy. Bright fruit and nice acid. — 9 years ago
I bought all of this that I could find.
Some 9+ bottles. It was a wine inexpensive enough to open whenever, and when it was gone I only lamented its passing without coveting. If you run into any in the $30 range, snap them up and drink them. Gattinara at twice the price is unnecessary. Much better than their Spanna. — 9 years ago

Bordeaux wine dinner; 6/18/15: Pichon Lalande 1990 - Lighter color than others, I think passing its prime. A little dry on the finish but perfectly nice still. Gruaud Larose 1989 - Very classic nose and palate of cedar and pine notes. Most silky palate of the bunch. Two at the table thought it was wine of the night. Not as much to my taste but very much classy Gruaud. Cos 1986 - Funky barnyard nose. Deep palate with still strong tannin, but plenty of fruit coming through. Liked it but there was some brett there that to me, hurt. Lynch Bages 1985 - For me, the wine of the night, largely due to the truly stunning nose. A tad dry on the palate but still long finish of dark fruit. — 10 years ago
Big but not tannic. Lots of length, smooth with a bit of kick. 18 month French oak — 10 years ago
A gorgeous bouquet of violets came rising immediately on the first pour, bursting into my nose showing only a hint of barbecue sauce and what's to come. 30 minutes later bacon was grilling in the glass and smoke was rising in billowing clouds of invisible aroma. Fuck ya. Always over delivers, this one. Cote rotie throw aways? Yes please and thanks! — 10 years ago

Celebrating passing the Veterinary Surgery Board Exam! — 9 years ago
Vintage 1949 in Burgundy according to Broadbent: “..most perfect end of a decade - elegant, well-balanced wines”; Clive Coates in his book Cote D'Or: "best vintage of 40's all-perfect beauty and purity”; Robert M. Parker Jr.: “it was the best of post world war II vintages before 1959”
Henri Leroy at that time was négociant based in Auxey-Duresses, his mythical daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy in 1949 was only seventeen.
Les Cazetiers is amongst the most elevated of Premier Cru site in Gevrey-Chambertin - and indeed the whole of Burgundy.
I drank this precious bottle on Mount Etna with #FrankCornelissen and other dear friends. Uncork this bottle lead to a surgical operation. Just begun to pull it out, a light breath of wine molecule with air bubbles magically have emerged on the surface of the cork. It's been like witness the passing away of a dying old man (or Pinot Noir must be a woman?) That humanized wine had held "élan vital", hope and breath inside him for the last 66 years! A miracle of a wine still so tasty, robust, citrusy, vibrant, earthy, incredibly alive and well-preserved despite color and neck level did not bode so well.. that's what I thought and I'll remember until I die: "the wine was waiting for us to drink it up, he gave off his mortal blow to offer us life, joy and smile!" — 9 years ago
Very good wine. Will age even better — 10 years ago
Recommended to me and now I'm passing along this recommendation too! Overall a great CabSav! — 10 years ago
Tight on the pop but opened up quickly. Great beach wine with an interesting weight and complexity--not your standard mid day sipping rose. Open this when the clouds start to come in and you put on your hoodie....you are ready for a night of drinking.... — 11 years ago
