Preface Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Fabulous wine from Page (most are). Dusty, dark, tannic throughout. Currant & cocoa are lovely. Would pair wonderfully with a juicy steak, Gorgonzola mushrooms or an onion dip. Great to sip on its own or have with any number of meals. — 9 years ago

Columbia Valley Syrah 2003

Very assertive aromas of black pepper and black olives. Soft and supple with vibrant black fruit, but still very focused. It was a bit cold from the cellar, but as it warmed, the smokey flavors emerged. Could still age for a couple more years. Tasty. — 9 years ago

Dos Padres Vineyard White Field Blend 2013

Apricot, green apple on the nose and pallet. Acidic up front with a round almost buttery finish. Unique, well balanced, lovely. Hats off Glomski — 10 years ago

The Tempest Napa Valley Red Blend 2010

My first Realm, beautiful bouquet. Nice ripe fruit coming off the top. Lots of cassis with some subtle leathery tones to round it out. Saw a Realm on someone's page on here and have been wanting to try it. Glad I did! — 8 years ago

Yountville culty garage wine. Perfect for v-day dinner. Glycerine, cedar mountain berry laced nose with a streak of truffles. Palate of balsam, boysenberry and vanilla. Huge wine almost 16pct but silky smooth tannins. Really very unique in its style. The finish is dynamic. The wine is constantly evolving in the glass. Give this air !!! — 8 years ago

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2010

Generally regarded as one of Australia's better Pinot Noirs on the basis of its perfumed nose and plummy medium bodied palate with lovely silky tannins. Could identify with @Ira Schwartz note recently of aromas of boot polish. I used to say varnish but I think we are on the same page. Great Pinot. — 8 years ago

@Bob McDonald I generally associate those aromas with aged wines and it sometimes throws me off when I'm tasting blind. I will admit a bias when I get that sensation I usually become pre-disposed to liking the wine.

Agreed.

Domaine Courbet

Violette Côtes du Jura Trousseau 2013

Lots of CO2 in here, so it requires some heavy shaking and/or a long decant. As a general rule, I don't find trousseau to have quite the intrigue that poulsard does, but this one is a little stonier and less simple-fruity (and more structured) than most, with a complexion of cranberry and roses. The fruit unfurls a bit more and picks up a satiny texture once it kicks that CO2, while still having a nice acidic zing. 10% whole cluster according to the importer web page. — 8 years ago
