2003 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico from our trip in Tuscany in Italy. Hands down the greatest dessert wine I have ever tasted. Aged for 6-8 years in a room on the rooftop of the villa in small chestnut wood barrels. Intense sweet aromas of figs, vanilla, honey etc...t least what the online review I read stated. I just thought it was excellent. Was €39 for a 375ml bottle and well worth it. — 12 years ago

Drink Now! Dark berry and coffee on the nose. In the glass a little bit of refined earth. Dark cherry. Not very acidic. Herbal on the finish - Elderberry? Very elegant and delicate. The opposite of an in your face wine. A beautiful textbook Volnay. From a lesser vineyard but hey Mark Haisma is a magic winemaker. An excellent food wine salmon, duck or coque aux vin. Was sold by Amitie Wines online. But they will not sell the 2013 as the quality was not there. — 10 years ago

My favorite producer who makes awesome wines from unsung vineyards in Burgundy. Perfumed nose roses/cranberry juice blend. Much heavier then the Nuits Saint George. Dark berries such as blackberries tannic now but will mellow out. A great wine buy it if you can find it! Online at Amitie wines. Premier Cru level! — 10 years ago

It's interesting to see how some wineries have to market themselves. These guys are maybe trying a little too hard (the wine comes with mustache wax if you order it online). Putting the gimmicks aside, we have a very solid, crowd pleasing wine here. Creamy and rich with vanilla and a slight toasty-ness. Lots of cooked down raspberries and fruit. A bit over extracted but balanced. Anyone paying for prisoner or a fan of the California style should give this a ride. — 11 years ago
