Notes of candied orange zest and lemon sorbet as it warms up. Great line and length. Would love to revisit laid down a cutla — 9 years ago
Gewurztraminer is a varietal that does particularly well in New Zealand in my tasting experience. Gorgeous nose of lychees with floral spicy notes. Voluptuous on the front and middle palates but finishes dry. The perfect wine with Asian food. In a word - delicious. Another brilliant Gewürztraminer is made at Gisborne in the North Island by Vinoptima whose goal it is to produce the worlds best Gewürztraminer to challenge the Grand Crus of Alsace. — 10 years ago
2013 just a yummy wine made by a couple of blokes in a shed.
They sourced some Watervale grapes from Clare valley, Took them skinny dipping & ended up with this. — 10 years ago
Perfect with cheese, mushrooms ribs etc — 11 years ago
Better than we could have hoped for. A touch oxidised but still with loads of structure and flavour to the palate. Stunning fine acid. Yum on a hot day. — 11 years ago
Signs of premature ageing but really good. Enjoyed over two days. — 9 years ago
Noticeably different to the watervale, this screams ripe limes, along with florals, talc and sense of minerality. Delivers with line and length as per usual, quality. — 10 years ago
Sumptuous wine. Full bodied. A great core of fruit as always with Otago. Cherry and hint of currant.
Very good. 17.5. — 11 years ago
Solid hints of pineapple and stone fruit, with a dry finish that I'd recommend a spicy Thai to accompany with. — 11 years ago
Was dying 2 taste this & Peter Barry showed up w a bottle. Thx mate! 1 of Clare’s best Rieslings. — 12 years ago
Only word of caution would be in regard to abv, huge! — 9 years ago
A slightly unusual Riesling, more on the sweeter side than I’m used to, with distinct but delicate stone fruit flavours prominent on the front palate. The more typical Riesling citrus buzz is still evident, but only has a supporting role on the back of the palate, along with a fine quartz like minerality. Also missing is the usual Riesling acidity. The wine much softer than typical, but far from flabby, the balance exquisite. Bloody delicious actually. An unexpected gem. — 9 years ago
Lime, lemon.. Good balance of fruit and acidity. Go Clare. — 10 years ago
Brand new vintage, super fresh. Musk, lots of acid freshness with great minerality. My pick over the Watervale. — 10 years ago
An Australian icon-aged Clare Valley Riesling (in those days called Rhine Riesling unfortunately due to our country's slim knowledge base but later corrected against a barrage of opposition from conservatives and industrial makers of riesling, but not using riesling!) Classic glass of flavour; #honey #burnttoast #agedriesling #brulee #butter #crunch #yum #mouthful #watervale #treasuryestates ; wine made by the great man John Vickery before his defection to Richmond Grove when the Fosters people closed the brand down; but now it is back! Wine won three gold medals in the year of production-1990; probably never shown since. 12.5%; 1990 a terrific red year, usually not so for riesling; this had backbone; sweet acidity; nut power. — 11 years ago
Having an excellent run of older Aussie Riesling! — 12 years ago

Actually not at the level of refinement I expected. Blind it had more of a ripe McLaren Vale character than Clare.
Full body but lacks complexity. — 9 years ago
