So subtle - dried orange peel, potpourri and creamed corn - a delight, thank Hugh — 7 years ago
The perfect Pinot Noir, we are drinking the 2011 and it's fantastic. 1760.00 pesos which equals 95 dollars at La Casa Del Agua in Playa del Carmen. — 9 years ago

I was skeptical at first...inky black and 15.3 ABV, but the wine is well balanced with plenty of freshness and lift. Just the ticket with tonight's daube de boeuf. — 10 years ago
Smells of cherry oak and some light tobacco. Very full bodied with some port notes actually and smooth finish. Somewhat acidic and would do well with food. — 11 years ago
An excellent Zin blend when considering the price point. Not all jammy/fruity; nor is it full blown spicy. A great value. — 11 years ago

Great wine especially for the price — 6 years ago
Dark purple, magenta, rich sugar blueberry, blackberry smell, syrupy, bit too sweet I think, I wish the fruit came out more! It’s definitely a lot. — 7 years ago
A treat. Dark in color, slightly cloudy. A powerful nose with dark, very mouton fruit. Incredibly aromatic, blackcurrant, mint, graphite, dried herbs, eucalyptus. The palate is extraordinary. So dense and powerful for a wine of almost 70 years. Dark fruit with a savory undertow- leather, thyme, sour cherry, dark chocolate. Really precise flavors and long. After an hour or two in glass there’s notes of coconut and soft wood. Extraordinary. Clearly there’s a lot of age on this but the sheer quality makes for a really dynamic wine. An exceptional bottle, and a teal treat. — 7 years ago

For a 20 year old St Estephe this Cos d’Estournel is sublime. Perfectly aged but shows a lot of youth throughout the hour opening with red fruit mixed in with leather and chalk. A good 35 sec finish. A classic Bordeaux that rocks! Kept from my Phd days ( Rodolphe this is the last one buddy) is surprisingly vibrant. happy birthday 🥳 Philippa. — 7 years ago
Really impressive Syrah. Super soft on the tongue, with nice dark cherry notes. Hints of oak and pepper. — 7 years ago
Very rich with flavor. More flavor then the regular red ménage a trois. Both are great! — 8 years ago
A lot of nose and fruit for a tough year in Napa. — 9 years ago
Still a lot of life left despite the vintage. After decanting for an hour it is hard to find any flaw with it. — 9 years ago
Incredibly tasty. Big but remarkably light on its feet. Viognier really lifts it up. Pretty insane for the dollas. — 10 years ago
This 1974 is rockstar!! — 10 years ago
Fruity and slightly floral with notes of cherry, berry and cassis with hints of lilac and a smooth spicy finish. — 11 years ago

Has a cool vintage personality to it, the acid is elevated and tannins are still firm albeit softening from the wines upbringing. Im a fan, there’s a lot of complexity on the nose, taking this classically-styled Rioja beyond what archetypal things might come to mind with this benchmark wine. Soulful and almost old school Bordeaux-like. Current, dried raspberry, stewed plum and dried black cherry, gravel pushing into graphite, tobacco, sous bois, wet leaves, juniper, leather, American oak, pipe smoke. Considerable freshness for such a tertiary wine. The elevated VA could be a problem for some, I enjoyed the lift. — 5 years ago
