No Name Road

Pillow Rd. Vineyard

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2013

OK c'mon..who doesn't love a good name to start out with? After drinking this very good Cali style Pinot I'd move to Pillow Road for more than just the cool name. Sometimes the California Pinot style is too big for me and overwhelms in a more Cab way than a traditional Burgundian/funky earth tone/vegetable way. This one is between the styles and not too dense (my usual complaint) and has great cherry and light leather without the Big Fruit that tends to get in the way of complexity. So bottom line; big but not to big and enough Euro notes to satisfy the taste for Willamette style. — 11 years ago

Unconventionally beautiful or as the French say pretty-ugly, this was a breath of fresh air to my palate. Neutral oak, no malo, the complexity and breadth of flavor and aroma all coming from the care taken in the winery to coax the maximum impact from the fruit. — 11 years ago

SCEA La Tache is the name of the estate. No sulfur. Deep classic natural Syrah nose. Amazing. Great purity. 100% whole cluster. One month fermentation. Stunning. 1 gram of sulfur at the end. — 12 years ago

Bodega del Abad

Bierzo Godello 2012

Love this stuff...fresh burst of acidity with the. Aromatics of pear, peach and honey.... Graham crackers... No I haven't gone crackers . This Godello is growing at 600 to 650 meters on really steep slopes, eastern side. Rocky quartz soils with loads of red clay a spectacular place that takes quite a while to get to by way of a windy steep narrow road. It really makes you appreciate it — 13 years ago
