The '14 Guadalupe has a bit of mystique to it. The nose is intriguing, with a mix of fresh fir boughs and eucalyptus leaves wafting from the glass, with hints of mint, spice cake, and cherry kirsch. Dark cherries and blackberries lithely glide onto the palate, with hints of candied orange peel and black licorice unfolding into a spicy finish. Pretty and intriguing. — 8 years ago
Mystique - a fascinating aura of mystery, awe, and power surrounding someone or something.
I'd say the label holds true. Power trapped in a bottle. Such a dark purple wine. Full of cedar-like aromas, clove, and burnt coffee bean. The pallet was gripping, and rustic, exhibiting notes of under ripe blackberries, raspberries, lavender, black tea, wet hot rocks, and a very everlasting gripping finish. 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc; definitely needs some age but bravo.
Cheers!

One of the most stunning cornucopias of flavor my mouth has ever seen. On the nose, it was a drug-fueled high of aroma. On the palate - rich, charming, with plenty of mystique. Will drink again ASAP. — 9 years ago
Quite nice but not really living up to its mystique. — 10 years ago
My fave. So so aromatic and delicious. — 11 years ago

This wine is NOT made in an oxidative style whatsoever. It is made in amphora and it's a hands-off style but that only adds to its mystique. No skin contact, no weird EA, perfectly fresh. Having stated that it's not the most complex white wine, but it is very enjoyable, refreshing and beautifully balanced.... very good with roast chicken and artichokes w/ lemon & pepper — 9 years ago
A very pleasant surprise. This is serious Syrah. Inviting nose of mystique Asian spices, brambly fruit, animal fur and a big blob of ink. After a sip my palate is coated by substantial tannines, soft and ripe, fine lines of acidity, a wonderful core of fresh black fruit, and an aftermath of garrigue and rocky minerality.

Always seems a bit over rated, good yet the mystique demands more — 11 years ago
St Patty's Day wine with Robin. Paired very well w my warm spinach salad at The Depot. The tartness of the vinaigrette brought out the brightness of the fruit in this zin. — 9 years ago
Very good wine. We had it with peach balsamic salad, and grilled chicken. The apple notes of the wine really complimented our meal. Definitely a keeper for an all around good white wine. — 10 years ago
Alta Piemonte is absolutely killing it. Mystique, unique. herbal earth like flows with dried flower tones that evoke salavation. Acid plus ,
Tannin plus... Real people drinking real piemonte wines. 2008 Gattinara. — 10 years ago
Maybe it's the mystique of actually meeting Arnie at Markko but this is an incredible wine. Smooth on the tongue with a deep berry middle. Opens up nicely with some swirling. Visit his winery and you'll see! — 12 years ago

One of my favorites. If you can find the Rhubarb Lavender try it as well, it’s even better. — 7 years ago
