45 year old Muscat vines. Skin contact. Unfiltered. Fresh, bright, high acid. Tropical and floral notes, jasmine, star fruit, lychee and a little lemon juice. Killer pairing with salmon sashimi. — 9 years ago
Great acidity, muscat notes - just lovely — 10 years ago

Beautifully evolved nose of leather, mulberry, brambly red berries, clove and dried mint. Medium-bodied with a regal countenance—there is still tons of structure, with mouth-coating fine grain tannin in abundance. Truly, this wine could go on and on and on in the cellar. The 1989 Château Montrose is not terribly fruit-driven, rather it's interior space is occupied by notes of dusty, clayey soil, cedar, black tea and spice. That wonderful impression of clove is on the finish, too. — 11 years ago
Great stuff, Napa Cabernet with a well knit structure of grace and power. Dark red core with red edges this was ready to go from the pull of the cork. Graphite, currants and black cherry, a dollop of oak. A long fleshy finish with medium grain silky and ripe tannins. — 12 years ago

One more of the atypical french wines. Fuller bodied. A slight touch of resin, but otherwise nothing chatacteristic — 5 years ago

Well if that isn’t a hot summer’s day in a glass, I don’t know what is. A charmat method blend of muscat a petit grains, macabeo, and xerel-lo from Penedes. The muscat dominates the nose with a fruit cocktail of sorts, leading you to believe it’ll be sweet. But BAM, you’re hit with a bright acidity, cleansing bubbles, and tart green apple and lime flavors. Super refreshing and great for summer. — 7 years ago

23 varietals used makeup this interesting 2013 wine: Aspiran, Aubun, Alicante Bouschet, Aramon, Varousset, Clairette, Morrastel Bouschet, Petit Bouschet, Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Terret (Black), Terret (Gris), Lladoner Pellut, Bourboulenc, 4 unknown dark grape varietals, and 4 table varietals - Cardinal, Alphonse Lavallée, Italia, Muscat de Hambourg. — 11 years ago
Rich and youthful, but contrastingly mature notes offer multiples of complexity. Aromas of black cherry, currants, fall leaves, and sweet tobacco. The palate shows the same with notes of mint, medium grain and silky smooth tannins. The finish sails on clean and pure with good acidity and energy. — 11 years ago

Really solid wine. Complex notes, black pepper, fruit leather, with blue fruit on the palate. Great tannin grain, it's textured and layered with no pronounced alc. the winemaker was a bit standoffish when I met him but I won't hold that against him. — 9 years ago
Full, rich, and pure fruited, approaching maturity but drinking really nice. Plum Cassis, smoke, mineral, mushrooms with good acid and fine grain tannins. Great off vintage Bordeaux! — 10 years ago

This is my second review of this build from the fantastic 2017 vintage… 46% Muscat Ottonel provides sturdy viscosity while 22% vermintino + 16% Viognier + 16% petit manseng energizes the acid and structure. Altogether elegant while the acid from 2 1/2 years of bottle aging is weaning a bit… It provided beautiful lime sweetness and verve when paired with our caprice salad on baguette. Opulent floral nose and elevated mouth feel make for a very distinguished build… On par with some of the finest Rieslings on the East Coast for reference. — 5 years ago
