Clean & crisp. Varietally correct. $10.80 WG — 7 months ago
Lush and bright with a crisp finish. Lime, green apple, kiwi, white peach and a little melon with a smattering of herbs rather than heavy pyrazines. Lots of acidity for freshness, although a bit high in alcohol, so has some body. The oak doesn’t get in the way for me, as it often does w SB — it adds to the texture and lush mouthfeel and adds a a hint of spice, but otherwise pretty classic. — 3 years ago
A new experience for us tonight. A 34 year old C-D-P to celebrate our 36 year anniversary. Beautiful old red/orange color from the glass. Dried fruit and herbs, licorice and wet flint on the nose. Flavors of dried red plums and cherries, licorice , herbs and some earthiness. Still showing a slight tannic backbone. A nice long finish. — 5 years ago
A softened ruby color. Beautiful balance, everything in harmony. Wet earth, raspberry, cinnamon, a whiff of truffle, intoxicating nose. So much ripe, fresh red fruit on the palate. Such soft tannins, damson plum, a mineral streak running through. Drinking a 15 year old wine for 15th anniversary of diabetes. This is splendid in the moment — 7 years ago
Vintage after vintage these guys knock it out of the park, 2011 is just sweet. Soft tanins, alc in check and balanced for the level, beautiful, crunchy red fruits with a crazy splash of plum bordering on pluot. Phenomenal value for the quality. Lots of shops out there with it right now for$26-28, get some. — 8 years ago

1982 vintage. Great, upper shoulder fill. Long, aging cork fully saturated but removed with a Durand. Splintered a little upon removal. Decanted and threw less sed than expected. Decaying leather, cedar, hot gravel and lightly roasted button mushrooms in the nose. Light-medium/medium body. All this + some undying cherry and plum flavors mixed in amongst remaining tannins. More thrust and fruit than anticipated with expected structure firmly in place. Really beautiful specimen. Based on this bottle, can hold steady without dropoff for another 4-5 years. 1.12.24. — 4 months ago
The color and nose painted a promising picture but there wasn't much structure left. it was still pleasurable to drink. Just a few years past it's peak.. — 6 months ago
Really delicious. Blackberry, currants, berry, hint of veg broth. — 7 months ago
Decant for sediment and pour. Still a wondrous dark garnet with bricking. On the nose: beautiful gotta keep coming back notes of dark plum, smoked meat, cigar box, touch of barnyard funk, vanilla spice. Taste: silky smooth with brambly cherry, dirt, leather, cedar, grilled peppered meat with a medium plus finish. YUM! Still drinking well at 33 years old. — 10 months ago
Celebrating Mother’s Day and our son’s 18th b-day with a 2003 Cos. A beautiful crimson red with definite bricking. A very fragrant nose filling the senses with a perfume raspberry dark plumb, stewed meat , and cedar, pine-menthol and lingering notes of a vanilla forest floor. Creamy and rich in flavor; a juicy layered fresh feel on the palate. Flavors of dark raspberry-cherry mint spice, pencil lead tobacco with a smokey earthy chocolate-coffee long finish, yum, yum!! A great wine to celebrate today m honor of our son! — 3 years ago
Earthy finesse, complex, clean cherry/current and a tangling, slightly spicy finish — 5 years ago
A beautiful dry rose with great depth of flavor, texture and an incredible finish. I need to get more of this! — 6 years ago
Drinks beautiful, like a Lafite — 7 years ago
Drinking so well. Red fruits, leather, dried herbs, cedar. Lots of color still. Freshness, tannins present, beautiful acidity. Really solid. — 11 years ago
The 2015 Viña Ardanza is only the third vintage of this wine that I’ve tasted, yet it has quickly become perhaps my favourite Rioja - for quality, value, style, and sheer pleasure. This is a match for the brilliant 2010, with an outrageously pure and beautiful nose of balsamic paste, bitter orange, black cherry, fig and vanilla. The palate is supple but firm, quite dark in character, with a gorgeous medley of black and red fruits, perhaps slightly fuller bodied than the 2010, and carrying through to a long, bitter orange, tar and tobacco-laced finish.
This is just such superb stuff, and to say it sells for around £20-30 a bottle, it’s a cellar must. — 4 months ago
Medium dark robe, nose of steak tartare and cedar. Very complex and elegant in the mouth, great acidity and balance, licorice, dried flowers, a hint of dry port. Finishes on a beautiful acid note and is such a companion. Truly great bottle. You can barely tell the vintage. — 7 months ago
This is just a delicious brut rosé, really one of the best out there that isn’t four figures...beautiful fruit that melts on your tongue, just excellent — 5 years ago
Awesome stuff. Biscuit dough, baked apple, a bit of oak influence, beautiful effervescence and great acid. 2005 vintage, but can only imagine how it will be in 20 years.. — 7 years ago
I love Cheval Blanc- belongs in the classification of a first growth french wine for sure. The '89 is drinking superbly and possesses a beautiful bouquet of roses/fragrant flowers, and is so powerful yet subtle on the pallet with dark berries, ripe cherries, soft tannins yet powrrful and forward fruit. This wine is underrated and under priced. Seek to acquire from good provenance/reliable sources that have properly stored the wine and you will not be sorry. — 8 years ago
Needed decanting as it was hard as nails when first opened. Great balance of fruit and acidity with tannins quite pronounced. Beautiful with assorted pastas at Collichio & Sons — 9 years ago
Quite an amazing bottle of wine. Girlfriend is the Bordeaux fan and I was hesitant. Had a 1911 Lafite that was funky and cheesy. Looking forward to more fruit and we got it with this bottle. Absolutely beautiful red candied fruit with no more tannins and barely a hint of acid. Quite spectacular. — 11 years ago
