A lovely Austrian wine, apparently similar to a Pinot! Beautiful vibrant flavours...lovely with Austrian dumplings :) — 9 years ago
This should reflect that Moric is the producer, and that Lutzmannsburg is the village/vineyards. It is indeed young, but still showing beautifully. The hit of the week on #winesummit 2015 with the #awmb — 9 years ago

Oh yes I did. If the somms of Texas are going to grab pretty much every bottle not earmarked for NYC and CA, then I'm drinking this one! Grown on limestone, yes, this is a very different idea of what Gruner can do. Embrace it. There are grapes, and there is the soil/dirt/rocks/minerals they are planted in. — 8 years ago
Came to New York in my suitcase, and tasted a little mixed up and out of sorts, but what a tremendous amount of character and focus. A Burgenland Gruner that can show all those fat, butterscotch Gruners from Wachau how it's done. — 9 years ago
Along with Moric, Paul Achs is the grower to watch (and drink) from Burgenland for Blaufränkisch. He produces five, three of which are single vineyards. He's the most thoughtful, sensitive grower that I know who constantly shares his vast collection of back vintage Burgundy with friends. BioD too, if that's your threshold. — 11 years ago
First vintage of this wine, Uwe Schiefer made out of a parcel which is directly beside the one from Roland Velich (Moric). A different Schiefer. Much leaner & withy with a hint more precision than the Reihburg imo. The fruit is withdrawn, lots of herbs & earth notes. Tons of potential under the surface so give it the time it needs. A totally impressive Debut. — 7 years ago
If there was a grand Cru Gruner, Veyder-Malberg would be in the running (and Moric). Great juice. Optimal after 3+ hours decanting time. Wow! — 9 years ago

A hint of cellar mustiness but it quickly blows off after the wine gets some air in the glass. Lots of spices, pepper, wet earth, lovage and some red fruit (Blind I definitely voted for a Cab Franc). Tense acidity, tannins are totally integrated. This Blaufränkisch has lots of edges, its not a flatterer. Good length. Although the acidity is still very present I think its time to drink it up. — 7 years ago
