Surprisingly good - and by the way organic.

2009 vintage on the second day being open. This is delicious. Open and fruity with just the right amount of vegetal notes of sweet bell peppers and mushroom. There's a tiny hint of bitter chocolate on the nose but that fruit is just dominate. There's a balance on the palate between the acidity and tannin and mouthfeel that is just... pleasing. Man, this has really opened my eyes to what Sbragia can do. — 9 years ago
I tasted this new (2014) vintage a couple months ago, and gave it a 91. It's a definite improvement over the 2013, which was decent, but the tannins were a bit too angular IMO. The 2014 package is new, but it looks like they had some "old" label and capsule stock to run out. No worries, the wine is good and the new packaging will eventually be out in the market. This is a gem and should be consumed in copious quantities. So this rating is higher. Deal with it. — 9 years ago
The wine continued to get better over the course of dinner. It had a lot more fruit than I would have expected for a European wine even though it was a Syrah. — 10 years ago
Juicy with a slightly dry finish. — 10 years ago
97 percent Syrah from the Lisbon region. Tastes like an old school Bordeaux but with a little something-something from Portugal. Yum. — 11 years ago
Smells of ripe pear, tastes: lime or margarita mix, tonic, refreshing like ocean spray and sunshine! — 11 years ago
A deliciously dry tinto, enjoyed in Praça do Comércio on the port side of Lisbon. This tinto had a smooth taste that faded into a sharp bite that would eventually leave a lingering bitter fruit taste on the back of your tongue. — 12 years ago

Alentejano gostoso — 9 years ago
Uncorked it, splashed half the bottle into a blender -- breathe, breathe -- poured the slosh into a dainty glass, then stuffed it down with burger, roasted broccoli and cauliflower, followed by a German chocolate cupcake. Anyway, point is, I liked it. — 9 years ago
Deixou minha criança interior feliz. Sua força vem da suavidade e do equilíbrio. — 10 years ago
Great, silky texture and dark fruit, with lots of fig. A value, too. — 10 years ago
Very peppery interesting. 7.70€ — 12 years ago
Portuguese wine from Fronteira. 2008 vintage. — 12 years ago
Wonderful. This was has impressively delicate minerality. Just a little acidic and warm. Lovely wine that I thoroughly enjoyed with mussels fra diavolo. — 8 years ago
Notas de frutas maduras, especiarias doces, boa estrutura, taninos redondos, fácil de tomar. Safra 2013 em julho de 2016, no Bistrô Isadora Duncan, Florianópolis. — 9 years ago
Quite bold and fruity while still remaining pleasantly tannic. — 9 years ago
Great wine, high acid, slightly effervescent, extraordinary value. — 9 years ago
Extremely rare, not sold in the USA but available at the Quinta to taste and take with you. 100% Touriga Nacional from both schist and granite, the combination of both soil types adds power, structure, freshness and complexity from the schist, while the granite rounds out the wine with more body, deeper fruit and plush tannins. Well structured and balanced, this is an elegant version of TN that will please traditional Douro wine consumers, as well as those that appreciate precision and elegance matched with power and grace. We were able to taste the 2014 individual parcels that allowed us to see the components that each soil type bring to the wine. This should go 95+ as it ages, it sure has the potential to do so.
Tasted at Quinta do Vale Meao 10/16/2015, tasted at opening and 1.5 hours later.

Sarsaparilla, kalamata olive and prune on the nose and on the palette. Beautiful Portuguese wine. — 10 years ago
Lemon and mushroom with crisp acidity. This is a great wine in its youth but reaches a new level with age. Do yourself a favor and try to sit on a bottle for a few years. Worth the wait! — 10 years ago
Serious bang for the buck — 11 years ago
Bright, raspberry, slight minerality. Really nice wine. — 11 years ago
Slightly wooden smell. Dry as Alentejo region! Tastes like it - lots of sun and very dry land... Goes very well with a beautiful sunset. — 12 years ago

The marbel fermentation gives it an epic spicy side in perfect harmony with a very soft aging in new oak. Awesome! — 8 years ago
