Still drinking, wonderfully after 12 years. A fine example of this variety from Italy. — 2 years ago
Decanted for 2 hours. Still big, no signs of fading. Did not drink enough before it was consumed to review properly, but seemed a touch sweet. — 3 years ago
Beautiful rust color. Earthy, dry, subtle notes of stewed cherry, dirt, cocoa powder, pomegranate, & subtle coffee. More fruit forward than I remember. Dry, tannic finish. Medium acidity. — 7 years ago

Almost as good as the chianti in Paris — 13 years ago
Cedar, fruit in the background, coconut?. Mature and delicious — 6 months ago
This up-front, fleshy Chianti is drinking really nicely right now. Pretty extroverted nose shows dark, macerated cherry, iodiney minerality, and a little loamy soil. In the mouth it’s pretty full, with a big whack of fruit initially, some tertiary notes developing and becoming apparent in the back half of the palate. Decent acids and still some soft tannin providing some scaffolding. I’d like a bit more linearity and persistence in the finish but for a ‘18 it’s darn nice. — 8 months ago

Light body and very "Pinot Noir" like. Bright red cherry and strawberry flavors. Mild tannins and light oak. Hint of smoke. Refreshing. Chill it a bit below cellar temp. Great story about the winery. A Mt. Etna lava flow just went around them 30 years ago. — 10 years ago
Very drinkable chianti. Not very dry, nice and smooth — 10 years ago
Also at BPI. This seemed hot. A good party wine for people who like big dry red. Served from magnum. — 11 years ago

Try this with a filet mignon with a bourbon cream sauce! Superb! Ruby with blackberry, cherry, and plum aromas. Nice spice, acidity, and mild tannins. Smooth with a medium finish. — 7 months ago
2016 vintage.
80% Sangiovese, 13 % Merlot and 7% Malvasia Nera.
Dark, shiny red ruby in colour.
Red/black berries, cinnamon and pomegranate on the nose.
Bright acidity and the tannins are softening.
Dark cherries, leather, black flowers, walnuts and a light, herbal earthiness.

Great wine indeed. Nose is complex, camphor, dry amarena cherry, some flint, no oxidation not fading on this bottle yet.
On the palate, Fruit is gone for this bottle, wine is dominated by its tannic structure that is on the dry side, almost austere. I was expecting a fleshier, mellower tannin. Dry herbs, dry raisins, cherry again.
Long finish, good acidity that’s keeps the wine alive and well going.
Mitigate the intensity with proteins and juice/sauce.
Osso bucco with prunes will work. We did Fiorentina and it was ok. The crust and smokiness did not help, over exhibiting the dryness of tannins. — 8 years ago
Tried the '90 recently, spoke of how amazing a producer of Californian Cabernet it is, but just needed a little more time, this '85 is well & truly on point, everything is in balance, there's fruit intensity yes, but the development/complexity/layers are really shining through, outstanding stuff. — 9 years ago
Paired well with a lamb, eggplant purée, fava beans, piquolo pepper. Would also pair with a medium rare magret duck or other game. — 11 years ago
One of my favorites! Velvety fruit of black cherry, with edges of wild mint and herbs and a leathery quality that is just beginning to show. This is Rabaja fruit through and through. So decadent and rich with gentle tannin (gentle for Nebbiolo, that is). — 11 years ago
One of the best wines for the price. — 13 years ago
