That one still wine of the day. — 7 years ago
Bright straw yellow. This absolutely captivating wine is remarkably deep, ripe and pure, boasting incredibly concentrated and perfumed gooseberry, guava, tangerine, grapefruit, sage, and winter melon aromas and flavors. The dense, tactile but very juicy mouthfeel is lifted and extended by penetrating but harmonious acidity. The finish is practically endless. The 2016 Sauvignon Zitelle does not have any, or only very few, of the tropical fruit notes found in Miani’s riper, rounder 2016 Sauvignon Saurint, offering instead gooseberry and orchard fruit nectar-like notes. In my experience, only Didier Dagueneau has made Sauvignon Blanc close to this quality level anywhere in the recent past. Do whatever you can to snag a bottle of the Zitelle, it is quite simply one of the best Italian white wines ever made. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2018) — 7 years ago
Delicious, slight banana. Maybe pear. — 6 years ago
I like these northeastern whites as they are an alternative to dropping the change for the Pepe's or Valentini's of Abruzzo. Whites that are serious. This was a nice compliment to seared cod served with a deconstructed gazpacho. Boozy on the nose like some whites. Was a bit reduced, but after the first half hour it blew off. Really nice mouthfeel, which you don't always get with whites. I could really use more of this. Gotta try a Miani though. See you soon.....

Razor sharp minerality. Slate and crushed rock. Tons of acidity a baby. Superb — 11 years ago
There is a level of density and class to the Rias Biaxas of Nanclares which seems to elevate the wines above the rest of the appellation. Quintessential but out of the ordinary. Reminds me of the ways that Dagueneau or Miani transcends. This 2013 has pedigree and such a youthful fervor, no hurry here. — 6 years ago
The richer 2000 I ever had from Friuli — 9 years ago
Perfection! Elegant and all about vineyard magic, this baby (2011 vintage) has great fruit and amazing overall balance, finishing amazingly long and detailed, with integrated oak, juicy acidity and texture to die for. 97+ points. — 12 years ago

If you’re gonna drink Friuli merlot you could do much worse (and somewhat better? Miani?) than this...rich and velvety, not a hint of tannin. Beautiful woodsy nose. — 6 years ago
