Talk about an accidental sleeper that turned out killer. Still showed rich dark fruit underscored by leather and tobacco and spice. Totally surprising. #latervino — 11 years ago
Well aged, high acid, still some fruit! — 12 years ago
My first thought when I pulled this 11 year old Sauv Blanc out of the locker was that I was probably five to seven years too late. Boy, was I wrong. Instead of golden, it was still light to medium straw color. Nose and palate were a bit subtle with lemon and peach, but still good acidity and minerality. A mouth watering glass of wine. I'd look for more, but with about 17 cases produced that may be a tough task. Sadly, the 60+ year old Sauv Blanc vines were only producing about 30-50 gallons of juice per year and have since been pulled. — 9 years ago

Everything I like about Grenache in one bottle - floral nose, berry fruit, spice, subtle tannins and some acidity for balance. A tiny bit dryer and it would be perfect. Winemaker's comments: 1/3 from old vines at McDowell Vineyard in Mendocino, 2/3 from younger vines at Pierce Ranch in SW Monterey. — 12 years ago
Slightly hazy orange tinged pink color with red fruit, tangerine, watermelon rind, mineral and hint of floral aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied with wonderful acidity and a hint of effervescence with strawberry, ripe fresh cherry, a bit of red plum, spiced blood orange, and mineral flavors. Lingering finish. Made from a field blend of 90+ year old Grenache Gris from a special old Mendocino vineyard in McDowell Valley. Fermented in neutral oak. Bottled unfiltered, so there is noticeable sediment ( a good thing in my book) — 12 years ago
Dark fruits, blackberry/blueberry, smoky, gamey, good acid and spice, tannins integrated. Tasty!! — 12 years ago
Al Shikoh

Pale peach in color. Muted aromas of peach and orange peel. Nice fruit and acidity on the palate accompanied by stony minerality. Made from a combination of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Counoise from the Windmill vineyard in the Dunnigan Hills of Yolo County, Syrah from the Hurley Vineyard in Napa Valley, and Grenache from the Gibson Ranch in the McDowell Valley of Mendocino County. Whole cluster pressed then fermented and aged on the lees in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation. Very quaffable at only 11.2%. $24. — 8 years ago
