Whoa!! Juicy juice! Deep fruit and luscious. Kind of sexy — 7 years ago
Pretty cool stuff, a true Iberian blend of Verdelho and Albarino, then some Picpoul and Muscat all from the Rorick Vineyard which is planted at 2000 feet of elevation in Calaveras County. Some Douro foot tread was done prior to pressing, fermentation was done in open top fermentor, stainless steel, and 500L puncheon for 14 months before bottling. Density with tension, fresh peach and nectarine push on to a long mineral finish loaded with dry extract from no fining or filtering.

Very finessed expression of this grape. — 9 years ago
Delicious! Yeah Rorick, peppery sweet tarts meet light wisps of sage and granite — 10 years ago
This is a 2007 petite sirah from Mr. T's Vineyard in the Suisun Valley. Bold floral notes with black fruits and a touch of pepper while the palate confirms the nose and adds some tart red plums to the mix. An older-than-usual petite sirah that was quite good and paired well with the variety of dishes we had tonight. We'd heard good things about the Suisun Valley and were not disappointed. — 10 years ago
Very interesting wine. Straight petite verdot, very limited production...awesome suggestion by the guy at Coppa. No idea of cost or how to get it but would like to buy again — 12 years ago
Love the whites from this producer! Savory with great acid. For me: on the mid-pallet, these a weightiness with mild tropical fruit and I’m reminded of cotton candy (or circus peanuts, marshmallow candies). Not in an off putting way. It’s just a flash of memory when I tasted it...but what is this flavor!?! — 7 years ago
I gotta say this is my pleasant surprise of the year. Relatively low expectations going in but this is much more complex than anticipated. Candied red fruit, earth, and herbs on the nose, full body of raspberries, baking spice, and a tiny green veg finish. Perfect level of tannin. For me, this was a super fun find. — 9 years ago
#rarecreatures are always a treat. Aromatic as it gets. Earthiness & summer melons to smell. The richness of the melony fruit gets more high toned as it opens. Seems like a perfect match for the piece of fish & salad on my dinner plate. — 9 years ago
Another delicious #rarecreature from the Forlorn Hope wine folks @Matthew Rorick This reminds me of a Cabernet Franc meets a Pinot Noir, purple floral and stone aromatics, with juicy fresh raspberry, cherry, a touch of savory and spice. #stlaurent — 10 years ago
This was a standout fir me on Saturday. Really intriguing nose of pine needles and citrus - like gin, but in the best way. Then bright red fruits and hints of grapefruit on the palate. — 10 years ago
An example of California getting Italian varietal right and buono! — 11 years ago
Delish! With a friend on a smoky night in SF. Slight buttery taste but not in a chardonnay way. Like real butter mixed with lemon citrus. — 7 years ago
Really impressed with this. Clearly white, but almost as heavy as some light reds with the skin contact in a good way. The right amount of sweetness and acid. — 7 years ago
From Suisin Valley AVA. Dark purplish red. Sweet blackberry fruit, cocoa and nutmeg in the nose. Well-balanced in the mouth, with ripe black fruit, subtle spices and mouth-watering acidity. Nice length too. Amazingly elegant for Petite Sirah! Matthew Rorick is my friend !! Abv 13,7%. 47 cases only. — 9 years ago
Barrel aged from his Touriga Nacional led blend of old vine Portuguese vines lost in the Sierra, this delicate yet plush rosé brings sensations of dreaming of summer-- of tomatoes, peaches, & watermelon-- like a lyric from a song you know you'll never forget-- like a sensual reverie on "this floating world" where "parties are never meant to last..." — 9 years ago
Very pretty. Nice nose of watermelon and berries. Citrus tones and a bit of an herbal appeal. Great acidity making it a great food wine. — 10 years ago
Nice Petite Sirah. Not a high alcohol fruit bomb, just a delicious wine that accompanied carne asada tacos. Love Matthew Rorick's wines. — 10 years ago
Riesling from California......and it's good?! Really good. Nice zip. The fruit is starting to show itself a little more and is a welcome addition to the program. Would love to do this side-by-side with Tatomer's from the same site. — 11 years ago
5 days on skins, 2 yrs chilling out; now a field of chamomile. — 12 years ago

It’s a gymnast that you watch and think...looks easy but...how’d that happen? Very cool wine. Cannot wait to try more Forlorn Hope. — 6 years ago
