I really enjoy this not-too-sweet Riesling. Holds up well against spicy and flavorful Food. A good wine to have around the house. — 8 years ago

Slightly effervescent, like a soirée on my tongue. — 12 years ago
A distinct salinity makes the 2012 vintage really something special. Awesome stuff, here, but what else is to be expected from Matthew Rorick? — 7 years ago

Another rare creature from Forlorn Hope. Matthew never disappoints. This is 100% Trousseau Noir from Matthew's own Rorick Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. Like the Jura with some extra California sunshine. Juicy with a little funk and a little herbaceousness. Pours a pale copper-inflected ruby. Nose of pomegranate and blood orange peel, Campari, fennel seed, crushed granite, a rose-y floral character, and guava. Perhaps the slightest hint of brett? But not at all distracting. Palate echoes the nose pretty congruently, still pomegranate and blood orange predominating with a little more spice and mineral focus. Light bodied, medium (+) acid, and just a tiny touch of soft tannin. If you were insistent on having a red wine as an aperitif, I can't imagine one much better than this one with its herbal, slightly bitter Campari-esque edge. Drink at cellar temp. Also a great option if you want a red with a charcuterie and cheese plate. — 8 years ago
We can throw around the idea of a classical wine or producer, but there are precious few that are true classics. This is one. If lightly peppered red berries were made of liquid silk, that would be almost as smooth as the palate of this. Aromatically, this is a fresh summer bouquet of florals & herbs. Just a stunner & showstopper. Will go a bit longer, but in an excellent place to enjoy right now. @Matthew Bigby you are a gentleman & a scholar for sharing this. — 9 years ago
Riesling from California......and it's good?! Really good. Nice zip. The fruit is starting to show itself a little more and is a welcome addition to the program. Would love to do this side-by-side with Tatomer's from the same site. — 10 years ago
Crisp, citrusy, green apple jolly rancher. First enjoyed with Matthew on a spontaneous Fredericksburg visit during Aisha's wedding weekend, then returned on our anniversary and became wine club members :) — 11 years ago

Verdelho.Labeled California as it is a blend from Sierra Foothills (Rorick vineyard in Calaveras County and Dewitt's vineyard in Amador County) and Central Valley (Vista Luna Vineyard in Borden Ranch - Lodi AVA). Bright yellow. Intense, fresh nose with pineapple and ripe grapefruit. Taste corresponds to the smell, great mix of pineapple fruit and the subtle bitterness of ripe grapefruit, great balancing acidity, real depth and a long finish. Never tasted anything this good from this grape. Great stuff. Matthew Rorick strikes again! 2014 vintage. — 8 years ago
Finally had a chance to try this famous wine (thank you @Matthew Rorick) and guess what? It's frickin' awesome. Brilliant balance, ripe fruit balancing laser acidity, it completely works. Really stunning. Pretty cool when such a highly sought after wine doesn't just live up to the hype but exceeds it. — 9 years ago
Continuing on with the award winning Chardonnay theme - this 2010 vintage won a trophy in the UK organised by Matthew Jukes. Nose of grilled nuts , nectarine and toasty oak. In the fuller style. A real crowd pleaser and dangerously drinkable. Also great value at $25.00. 17.5.+ — 10 years ago

(Catching up from 6/23 - JB’s Pig Roast) what a great treat from @Matthew Beckman. Didn’t immediately recognize this as a Pur Sang based on the old label A bit of funky cabbage on the nose to start, but this was amazingly in tact for a nearly 25 year old Sauv Blanc. Wow. — 7 years ago
