Soooo reticent. We enjoyed this over three days, not because we wanted to but because we HAD to. If you are looking for immediate gratification, this wine AIN'T it. You enjoy this wine for the bright future ahead of it, and the wonderful family behind it.
Do yourself a favor and drink the Tanbark Hill while listening to a podcast where the Genius Mr. Togni explains his adventures in wine. A filet mignon and fingerling potatoes wouldn't be a bad idea either. Bordeaux class, California sunshine! — 8 years ago
2006. A happy accident tonight. Ordered an 09 by another producer but the newbie server brought this instead. After a bit of research we agreed to this selection and boy were we happy. Started out a bit akimbo but 20 minutes in it began to shine, getting brighter with each pour. So glad I declared 2017 to be our year of Italian wine. With this rich, elegant, and complex treat as our opener, we are in for some great adventures. — 9 years ago
Spectacular bottle. It was served to us well chilled which enhanced the sweet notes and vanilla hints of the wine. I can't wait to get my hands on another bottle of this marvellous sparkling wine! — 9 years ago
Jancis Robinson MW once said that mature Hunter Valley Semillon was Australia's gift to the World of Wine. This wine demonstrates that statement. Notes of wet straw Bees wax Lanolin Grassy nuances. Acid diminishing from the searing levels in its youth. "Less is More". Pale Gold in colour. Marvellous wine at 16 years still with a future. — 9 years ago
Fruity aromas of blackberry and cherry with leather and cedar. Smooth black fruits and mocha finish. Still firm tannins that give me hope for the next bottle I'll open more than 16 months from now. (That's when we'll be back from our RTW trip.) Follow our travel adventures on peripateticcouple.com — 10 years ago
One of my first purchases in my adventures of trying wine. — 10 years ago
Despite having a huge amount of power this still has a classic profile, more so than the 2009. Blackcurrant and cedar. Smooth tannins, well balanced, very dry also despite the rich texture.
Finished lifted and long, marvellous — 10 years ago
At first I didn't think this was for me... nor anyone else.
Because of the wine's very strong smell of brined olives... and my abject ignorance of the region, I brought it back to the shop where I was assured its normalcy.
So, I gave it another chance and I'm glad I did - looking forward to more adventures across the region. — 11 years ago
One of those situations that can't be helped: marvellous wine that I'll likely never see again. Boutique producer in Mendoza that we picked up there. — 11 years ago
Masses of blue and purple fruits but somehow managed to retain a certain elegance despite the warm vintage and the Take No Prisoners style of this cuvée normally. Not particularly Cabernet in style but a marvellous drink nevertheless with decades of future ahead of it. Silky yet assertive tannins. — 8 years ago
Delicious rose wine + cider make this a refreshing summer drink. The fact that it comes in a 4-pack of personal 355 bottles makes it perfect for picnics or outdoor adventures 👌🏼 — 9 years ago
Wow! Truely different than other Loire Chenin's. Dry or off-dry? It differs every vintage but 2011 was more on the dry side. Deep, rich, energy & lightning bolts, marvellous ending. Great wine with a 'vin nature' complexity that I would like to find in every bottle that is made this way. From a plot where Mark Angeli used to make moulleux wines before (partly in the Bonnezeaux appelation). Classic example of biodynamics. When Angeli started in 1990 he converted to this way of working straight away. No monoculture here. 4ha out of the 12ha is used for other purposes than winemaking. All this is indicated by the name of the estate: not a winery but a farm. — 10 years ago
This bottle is a celebration of the owners', Emily & Peter Gladhart, 50th wedding anniversary. It's a selection of our 3 best barrels from the vintage. Nose of complex earthy notes of cedar, earl gray and cigar box with notes of cherry tartness and white pepper. Juicy acidity and soft tannins linger on the finish — 10 years ago
My oh my, my friends in Cali and NZ would love to b able to make this: deliciously complex wine, superficially fruit driven but with marvellous cut of stalk, brambleberry, w a touch of Provence herb. Long, satisfying, ever so slightly "plump" ( by Burgundian standards) however a beautiful new world Pinot. — 10 years ago
One of the top 5 Pinots in Australia I think. The power of the nose and palate belies its pale Burgundian colour. Plummy and spicy with incredible length. A marvellous wine. 18. — 11 years ago
Adventures in pulling corks: provenance check. A rare opportunity to try a very top shoulder from '62. A show stopper of a wine! Amazing condition. Excellent storage is the reason. Level was very top shoulder, excellent for age. — 12 years ago
An old bottle, so mellowed slightly. Sweet, soft, salty, with a wonderful warm, richness underneath. A pale golden colour. Light peat on the nose, but overpowered by a cherry-sweet medicinal scent with a honeyed base to it. Reminds me of the smell of a sweetsmoke fire in the distance on a cold beach on a grey day. And tobacco - cigar tobacco. And banana! Marvellous! — 8 years ago
Just marvellous. Scents of toast, roasted coffee and burnt rubber. Molten chocolate on the palate. Greatly structured, powerful. Great linger. — 9 years ago
Deep purple in color. Amazingly full bodied and "thick" for a Craiglee which one normally associates with spicy peppery cool climate aromas, but hardly a trace of this in 2003, a drought year. Some cherry vanilla notes. For all of our OS Delectable members, if you ever fly into Melbournes Tullamarine Airport, instead of going south on the Freeway to the city go north for 15 to 20 minutes and you will come to Craiglee. Vines first planted in the 1860s and best known for its marvellous long lived Shiraz. James Halliday tasted the 1872 (not a misprint!!) in 1993 and gave it 95 points! Challenges Biondi Santi Riserva re longevity!! I have a magnum of the 2003 which will stay sleeping for many more years. — 10 years ago
NV Rose. 60% Pinot, 32% Chardonnay and 8% Pinot Meunier. Range of reserve wines (oldest from 2000 and base of 2006). Pure class in a glass. Crisp, clean and complex. Wet stone minerality, salinity, cranberry, red currant. Short bread. On the palate, huge freshness from the acidity, light as a feather but full concentration. Great crisp, long finish. NB: with air, there's a beef consume note that is marvellous. — 10 years ago
Like most Italian wines I have had, this one was much improved with food. Initially, I hated it. To top it off, I had never heard of the varietal. The wine had intense acidity and while the tannins were not big, it just didn't do it for me. Then once the pasta hit the table, the wine almost instantly turned around and I enjoyed it immensely. I image this is the way my adventures will go while I am here in Sicily, lots of new stuff I end up loving. — 10 years ago
2010 vintage. Golden hue. Wonderfully exotic nose. Bags of wet rocks and salinity. Creamy. Great texture to this wine. Characterful and broad acidity. Good concentration. Stone fruits mainly. Cream finish. Good length. Marvellous. — 10 years ago
Delicious, berry-infused and perfect dark companion for all of life's adventures! — 11 years ago
Adventures in pulling corks: provenance check. A fantastic 61, still alive, sun sweet, smoky red fruits, modest maderization. One of the best non-1er Cru or Left Bank I have tried. Excellent storage is the reason. Level was top shoulder, excellent for age. — 12 years ago

Mount Mary Chardonnay is in the Langtons Excellent Category. Like the Pinot this Chardonnay is built to age and I have had some marvellous aged examples. Mount Mary was James Halliday’s Winery of the Year in Australia last year. — 7 years ago
