8 years on This ganache, Syrah, cinsault and clairette blend has arrived. This is a big ripe wine but not over the top. A bit of acidity to encourage more sips. Just a bit of a sharp note on the finish mars the impact. Don’t usually fall for these wines anymore but this is ready for red meat dining — 7 years ago
This wine was delicious--light, acidic, a little gravelly and meaty. Bought at La Buvette, paired perfectly with singing La Marseillaise on the Champs de Mars on Bastille Day. — 8 years ago
Mars 2017 - Rond et corsé. Très bon. — 8 years ago
In 1952, Petrus, a will-become-too-expensive wine producer, was crafting this pleasurable Pomerol (fortified with iron?). Mars red and with a distinctly ferrous taste, I presume that this aged Bordeaux will do wonders for my hemoglobin levels. — 8 years ago

I tried this right out of the bottle and was a little worried - super tight and one dimensional - but after two hours open it was singing and I was smiling. The nose has a more savory profile but the palate is full of bright red fruits with crushed gravel on the finish. Super smooth - the fruit and spice from the Grenache keeps the gaminess/savory flavors of the Syrah in check while the Mourvèdre adds richness. Helen Keplinger is a genius when it comes to these new world “old world blends” - I have yet to have one from her that hasn’t been fantastic. — 7 years ago
nice dark fruit smell with nice finale. Could benefit from another couple of years in the bottle. — 8 years ago
Oloroso sherry in color. In your face sherry aromas of hazelnut, black currant, dried red fruits, almond, honey, vanilla, smoke, and subtle floral notes. Gorgeous mouthfeel, very, very subtle peat notes in the back palate. Finish is a warm blanket right out of the dryer! Amazing! — 9 years ago
I bottled this a few months ago. Still young but very drinkable. Just being cheated of some complexity. And a mildly "rough" edge to it. .....lots of gold fruit. 50/50 Mars/Rous. — 9 years ago

Take me away a ms Gamay. Barney dirty bright as mars these days — 7 years ago
Slightly dry, high tannins, full bodied with an earthy nose. Mid pallet is the weakest part.
After decanting an hour, the mid pallet improves and the tannins come back into balance. — 8 years ago
High QPR. Has that soapy finish I come to associate with a Rous/Mars blend. Still vibrant. — 8 years ago
El Marciano - Garnacha grape. Label - Elon Musk on Mars. Funky nose: sulfur and sauerkraut; blackberries afterwards. Great experience - very unusual vine. — 9 years ago
Old gold in color. Aromas up front hit with leather upholstery, stewed fruits, rum soaked raisins, dried red fruits, toasted coconut, and cigar smoke. Full mouthfeel. Dry tannins, with additional flavors of hazelnuts, almonds, and sherry. Medium finish. — 9 years ago
