2015, Haut-Lirou Les Costes, AOP Pic Saint Loup, famille Jean Pierre Rambier. Très bien, souple, équilibré agréable. Sur le fruit rouge — 7 years ago
Incredibly powerful black currant from the start. I get a bit of herb and smoked meat after a while. Violet then raw licorice all the way taste wise. — 8 years ago
2012 very floral at first, then opens up to more butterscotch notes. Well worth aging for a few years. — 8 years ago
Fresh dark berries, black tea, and bitter expresso with notes of thyme, lavender, and scrub brush. Very impressed with this value wine! — 9 years ago

The photo does the wine no justice. Also consumed at our farm table dinner, this is from a winery we’d visited earlier in the day. In the same family since the French Revolution, Mas Gourdou is a small operation producing a nice variety of Pic Saint Loup wines. This bottling, made up of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, spends 12 months in used French Oak and offers up ripe berries on the nose with a silky palate of spice, earth and brambly fruit. A beautiful evening shared with the family - so fun to watch the appreciation of wine growing in the kids! — 7 years ago

Chateau Le Loup 2016
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux blend. 50% Merlot, 25% Cab franc, 25% Cab Sauvignon. Aromas of blueberry pie and candied yams. Very smooth rounded tannins and a pallet filled with ripe blackberries and blueberries. Spicy vanilla and oak take over and leave a dry tart finish leaving you screaming for water and another taste. Yes I am drinking French wine..
Yes I rated it over 90.

"I make wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon"... I can see why Nicolas Alexandre Marquis de Segur said these iconic words after having this wine in my glass. The nose is so inviting with warm spice, cigar smoke, embers, and toast. Raspberry syrup, plums, vanilla, and toffee on the palate. Nice thread of smoke throughout with nice balancing fresh fruit. What an enjoyable wine! 20 months in new oak - obviously the more accessible style the new owners are going for... the Pinot the other night gave an experience, this one tells a story. — 9 years ago
