2010 Colgin Estate Cab! A deep purple magenta gives this wine it’s beautiful rich color.. The blueberry-aged plum gives it an aromatic fruit nose. A funky herbal earth soil scent follows lingering with eucalyptus mint and dark chocolate-espresso. Taste— a nice surprise of cherry explosion, cedar, chocolate espresso like it’s scent balanced with a smoke flavor, tar with cherry flavors lingering. A fully body wine that is concentrated, rich and well layered with a long smooth dry finish. A treat for sure! Happy Saturday!! — 5 years ago

I had a couple bottles after release, but ended up selling them 💰💳💵💴Cherry, brown sugar, sorrel, blackberry, dark magenta purple, great oak, jam, tannins, acids and sugars and berries line up with a clean grippy but wet and full oak jam finish — 5 years ago
Airetta 2008 Cab Sauvignon. A reddish-purplish magenta color. Nose - blackberry-cherry, roasted meat, black olives and pine essence with hints of cedar-menthol. Velvety smooth on the pallet with a mixture of blackberry-cherry fruit, spice and a mineral-earth leather giving its medium dry finish. Tannins are well integrated. Very enjoyable on the mid-pallet where the flavors of the wine come out. — 6 years ago
Blueberry, blackberry, currant, slightly meat, cherry liquor, very dark purple magenta, lots of sugar, woody cherry liqueur, dark chocolate, blackberry, currant, boysenberry, blueberry, acid and tannins at end are balanced and leave some heat that is dry yet sticky but mouth and mildly alkaline — 6 years ago
Fridays are for Franc! And I. LOVE. THIS. WINE. I could not believe the aromatics that exploded from the bottle when I pulled the cork. Seriously it was like there was a blueberry pie baking in the kitchen. Decanted for an hour or so. Deep magenta in the glass. Loads of Cherry and blueberry on the palate mingle with vanilla, chocolate, herbs, and earth - very rich, but so incredibly balanced at the same time. I’ve been a longtime fan of Detert wines and this very well may be my favorite vintage of their Franc to date. I’m just wowed. Can’t wait to revisit this again and see how it evolves. Really well done @Tom Garrett (as always). — 8 years ago
My buddy asked me for a "big, bold red" and this is what I gave him. He's in love. Deep, dark purple with a magenta rim. The oak is evident with a vanilla sugary explosion on the nose. The palate tastes like a creme brulee with a ton of blackberries and red plums. A lot of people don't care for this big style but when you want it, this is what you should go for. — 10 years ago
The color is a beautiful purple magenta. On the nose - blackberry-raspberry fruit, sandalwood, eucalyptus with notes of chocolate, licorice and vanilla. Wow what can you say! A rich, juicy and medium bodied smooth wine. Black fruits with blueberry dominate and just snaps from the glass blended with chocolate and licorice notes followed by a hints of bacon and espresso and a mineral black pepper long finish. You can drink this wine all night long!! — 4 years ago
Dark purplish magenta color. Wow what a nose! - blackberry fruits jump from the nose; veggie green bell pepper follows with floating notes of menthol, black pepper and olive-tobacco. Taste - smooth, rich and silky giving this wine its complexity medium body feel. Blackberry leather bell pepper is the initial taste. Mid pallet, the flavors are more cedar, tannic and minerally finishing with bitter chocolate-espresso notes. Job well done for a tough year! — 4 years ago
Sorrel, raspberry smell, malty alc, magenta red, sorrel, raspberry, strawberry, acid then some tannins — 5 years ago
Red licorice, sorrel, raspberry syrup, light hot leather smell, light ruby magenta, the jam and acid meet fluidly with strawberry, raspberry, and a consistent warm tartness — 6 years ago
Vivid magenta. Perfumed red berry, cherry and floral scents are complemented by smoky mineral and spice flourishes that build in the glass. Sweet and energetic on the palate, offers raspberry, cherry, spicecake and candied rose flavors that open up slowly on the back half. Finishes long, smooth and floral, with slow-building tannins adding framework and gentle grip. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, August 2020)

Quarantine materials ready. Creature comforts are getting me through this thing. Give me good coffee, pavement to pound, a pen that dances on the page, a worn notebook with still empty pages to fill, jazz weaving the air, and a bottle of wine, and I will kill all the time there is.
A magenta shawl in the glass.
Earth’s fragrance caught in a bottle. Sweet, sweet clay. Leather. Intense plums and orange zest. Sea breeze. This is a memorable and rich bouquet.
Subtle smoke quality reminiscent of the char in the bark of good brisket. A reserved dark fruit quality which is there, but just teases you as a spicy black peppercorn note swings in for a jab. It’s smooth.
An eloquence in the expression and structure. Like a mathematical proof or a line of poetry you cannot easily forget.

For Nico's 1st semester completion celebration dinner. Dark magenta in color. Rose petal and hints of marzipan aroma. Medium mouthfeel. Pomegranate and stewed cherry flavors. Lingering lauered finish. This my jam! — 9 years ago
2 hour decant (decent chunky/cloudy sediment). A purplish dark magenta color. On the nose: in your face aromas of plum, leather, cedar, currants, floral, mint and smoke. Taste: a smooth, dry, elegant, nicely balanced wine with black fruit, minerals, graphite, black pepper,, and a smokey herb long finish. Give it a few more years to come around, has potential. — 4 years ago

Enjoying the first bottle from the cellar to welcome 2022. A new wine that we have not tried. This Pingus Tempranillo magnum is a dark purple magenta color. The nose has fruits of roasted plum-cherry and cassis with smoked meat and subtle notes of cedar and pine. Taste is juicy, luscious and smooth. The plumb fruit bursts on the palate and a cherry dark chocolate follows absorbing into the mid palate with a smokey, spice mineral long finish and a slight tannic kick. A treat for sure! — 4 years ago
Cherry, cranberry, strawberry, magenta, juicy cherry, cranberry, acid and light metallic grass finish — 5 years ago
Part of a double-blind, side-by-side between the 2017 Once & Future Mataro, “Oakley Road” which also happens to be from Contra Costa County. Opened and allowed both bottles to slow-ox about three hours prior to our guests arriving. As typical with Sandlands wines, this was a pretty little thing to behold in the glass. Bright ruby with a magenta rim. The nose is vigorous with loads of fresh mixed fruits; drupes and stone fruits with a sort of middle eastern spice that immediately reminded me of the mandi rice dishes that use saffron, cumin and tumeric. Drop dead gorgeous! On the palate, fresh plums, dried herbs, a dash of pepper. The finish is long and tannic with great acid.
This is a slightly more faceted wine than the O&F at this stage. It can’t help but take over a room with its distinctive character and compelling energy. The vineyard was planted in the 1920's and only 4 barrels were produced. 13.9% alc. — 5 years ago
Alc smell, blackberry, leather, magenta red, tannin blackberry taste with some green burlap, a tannin ending with a consistent underlying acid — 6 years ago
2 hour decant(very little sediment). A medium dark magenta color with some browning. On the nose: A sweet perfumed nose with tart cherry, floral, crushed rocks. Taste: Red berries, floral notes, mocha, minerals, with a dry smokey cherry finish. A soft medium body wine with soft tannins that could use a few more years to fully resolve...still drinking well on this rainy Saturday night! — 6 years ago

Dark purple, magenta, rich sugar blueberry, blackberry smell, syrupy, bit too sweet I think, I wish the fruit came out more! It’s definitely a lot. — 7 years ago

On my list of favorite Syrahs! A beautiful dark magenta color. Blackberry tart cherry, floral aromas jump from the glass with secondary notes of pencil lead and sandalwood and hints of bacon fat and milk chocolate floating. Taste - a smooth creamy and richly structured wine. Blueberry and cherry fruits still dominate with pepper, crushed rock and tar following. The finish is long with lingering notes of bitter chocolate and espresso and a touch of heat on the end but overall flavors are well integrated. Should open up even more throughput the evening. Luv the label. — 4 years ago
