Usually have the best wine of the week at Sunday lunch. The 86 Latour is this weeks wine of the week. Hi Tannic year in Bordeaux and many experts think that Latour lost the plot in 86 with most thinking that Mouton was the wine of the vintage. This wine had lots of leather savouriness with no fruit character but still a class act. A good wine but not at the usual superlative Latour standard. — 11 years ago
When you need to notch your post Burgundy lunch to another level. Powerful and lithe. Pretty, — 11 years ago
Magnum 2008 Screaming Eagle Cab. Wine #4 for K's birthday dinner at Press. Really interesting to drink this after having the Harlan vertical at lunch and side-by-side with the Heitz and Martini. This 2008 much more ready to drink than Harlan. We decanted for an hour before drinking, but it was still really muscular and chewy. Was really delicious to drink while having our steak. Awesome treat. — 12 years ago

1997 Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri Sassicaia. Drank at lunch at ReddWood. Compared it to the 1998, which was a more heralded year. I preferred this wine as it was drinking more readily, but K preferred the 1998, which he thought drank more interestingly and was more nuanced, despite being slightly more tight and tannic. — 10 years ago
One of my favorite whites over the last couple years, faintly sweet but packed with melon, white flowers and minerals. — 11 years ago
Finally getting caught up on stuff I had in France. This needed more time open than we could give it during lunch, but went down quickly nonetheless. Deep and meaty and bloody with a touch of floral lift. Fully resolved tannins and incredible length. — 11 years ago
Worth the money, not amazing but very good with good floral notes and alcoholic nose — 14 years ago
Not a rose fan but I like this one. Tart up front but then a smooth finish. Pretty color. Perfect warm weather lunch wine. — 10 years ago
Tastes like a CDR. Black pepper aplenty. — 11 years ago

Perfectly balanced, well integrated, and pairs best with good conversation. Even for an Italian, this Tempranillo gives any Nebbiolo a run for its money. — 11 years ago
Very nice bottle of Pinot for the money. This is an excellent value. Very drinkable. — 11 years ago
