Est. in 1987, belongs to Champagne Taittinger (personal favorite) considered the concept in 1947 in the mind of Claude Taittinger. 138 acre estate is situated in the Carneros appellation of CA. A blend (changes ea year) of 35% Chard, 62% Pinot Noir & 3% Pinot Gris, aged 3 1/2 years in the bottle. Aromas of stone fruit and toasty spice. Raspberry and peach flavors, complex, with citrus notes in a fine mousse with good bubble flow. Well structured, vibrant lingering finish ending with mineral tones. Will benefit from some aging. — 6 years ago
Just found out from @"Odedi" it’s International Merlot day so out came this £62 Merlot driven St Estephe 😅 will keep improving for sure 👍

Literally one of the best Zinfandels (and wine overall) I've ever had. Whatever Duane Rieder is doing bringing grapes back to Pittsburgh from California, it's working. Dark, smokey and jammy. Reasonable at $62 restaurant pricing. Found it at Original Fish Market. — 12 years ago
dark ruby violet; plum, tobacco, bitter dark chocolate, espresso, cedar; dense, concentrated dark fruit and spice with velvety texture and long finish; full bodied, good acidity, slightly gritty tannin, 14.7% ABV; blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 14 months in 40% new French oak; $62 — 5 years ago
Beautiful expression of an underrated region. Crisp minerals, dry, and moderate acidity. Notes of lemon and chalk. — 6 years ago
Fully opaque ruby violet offering aromas of black cherry, cassis, cocoa powder, coffee, and cedar. Full bodied, soft, and fruit forward with incredible mid-palate density. The tannins are fine grained and alcohol is 14.6%. Made from a blend of 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot sourced from vineyards like Beckstoffer’s Orchard Lane and Dr. Crane and aged in 65% new French oak. Along with Duckhorn, this is one of my favorite California Merlots and is crafted by winemaker Benoit Touquette and consultant Michel Rolland to drink young. I favor a pop and pour approach. $95. — 7 years ago

Been on my wish list to try this wine a while now 👌 @ £62 this didn't disappoint 👍
Great young 92-93 & not as tannic as I expected but will age into a beauty 94-96 me thinks 😍 Give a good decant 3+ hrs

I've had a perfect wine a handful of times. 2000 SQN Suey. 62 latour. 97 Gaja from 3L. 97 Shafer Hillside Select. This is at that level. Balance. Creamy. Expressive nose of sweet flowers, stone fruits and juicy raspberry blueberry vanilla, flint and the feeling you can only get from the hug of your mother. A wine at its peak. Embarrassed to enjoy this alone. But I will. — 9 years ago
The '62 is nimble and elegant. Just beginning to show some color at the edge. I think it has at least ten to twenty years before reaching maturity. — 10 years ago

Deep Ruby with youthful aromas of blue and black fruits with sweet spice and slight mineral character. The wine is a blend of 86% Cab Sauv, 7% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec & 2% Cab Franc from their estate-owned Napa Valley vineyards, aged 18 months in French (62%) & American oak (38%) (48% new). On the palate complex flavors, blackberry, plums and ripe cherry with sweet spice, oak and eucalyptus notes. Well balanced with good acidity and tannins still developing. Full-bodied, long finish ending with cacao and wood spice. Delightful! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago

This is basically the house red at Chez LuLu and we usually get a bottle when we go there for dinner. Pairs great with their wild mushroom & lamb sausage pizza and also with the beef stew dish. Solid choice for an inexpensive cotes du Rhône. — 7 years ago
This afternoon the wine I have decided to open was a Christmas gift from my parish priest. The 2011 Penfolds Bin 8 Cabernet Sauvignon - Shiraz blend, 62% Cab. Sauv. and 38% Shiraz.
On the nose is dark jammy fruit, black raspberry, black cherry, blueberry, prune, black currant, licorice, violet, lavender and graphite.
On the palate the dark fruit comes through but not jammy, blackberry, black cherry, boysenberry, cranberry, star anise and graphite.
A very silky smooth mouthfeel with medium acidity, medium granular tannins and a pleasingly medium finish.

Beautifully aromatic showing blueberries so I though it might have a fair amount of Malbec. Texture is supple yet there is a bit of a grip. A little astringent. A nice sipping wine and pairs nicely with our rib eye too! TD-9 is named for the tractor John Shafer drive in the vineyards. May he rest In peace.
