A wonderful 2014 Bordeaux blend we enjoyed for dinner at the Classic Cup! — 8 years ago
Loving ripened red berry aromas. Lots of strawberry jam on the tongue. Hints of licorice with sweet tannins rolling over the palate. — 9 years ago
Loving this one. Sophisticated, smooth and interesting — 11 years ago
Loving the fruit forward 09. If you dig deep there is some lead pencil and earth, but it's hiding beneath tons of fruit. Starting to come together now. — 11 years ago
My new summer go-to. Apt label for cheering on Team USA in the World Cup too! — 12 years ago
The beginning of a 6 year SO vertical tasting at our monthly wine group dinner. It's a good, well made wine. It's just, well, I guess my palate has evolved. This iconic CA wine is just not my cup of tea any more. I couldn't believe how similar all six wines were. I mean like Budweiser similar. — 12 years ago

In December I took my Chicago Bear/San Diego-LA Charger loving Dad for a trip to to Chicago that culminated in a trip to Green Bay to catch a Packer game. We stopped off in Elkhart Lake with my friend from CA who grew up in the area and his sister runs the Lake Street Cafe in town. This was WOTN of the 4 wines that I brought to this leg of the trip. So much depth here, mouth coating tannins and gobs of well integrated fruit. — 7 years ago
Go JetBlue! Way to stock the good stuff on your Mint service. Enjoying this from a plastic cup, and wishing I had some cheese and stone fruit to go with it. — 9 years ago

Loving vinho verde this summer! This one went down easy. — 11 years ago
Loving this little Piedmontese gem. A new grape for me...Erbaluce. Apple, minerals, herbs and flowers, and just a touch of petrol. Really conveys a sense of place! — 11 years ago
Classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc: lemon grass and lime peel, white currant and red pepper. Medium-bodied with currant, citrus flavors, and a dry mineral finish. Loving this with oysters seafood. Serve chilled. — 12 years ago
Loving our new baby wine. — 13 years ago

Deep ruby red with a strong, fruity nose. Aromas of black cherries, strawberries, and vanilla initially. There’s some oak and tobacco on the nose, as well, that gives it a slightly rustic character. This is not necessarily the kind of Merlot that “drinks like a Cab” like we’ve all gotten used to. It’s decidedly smooth and medium bodied with very fine tannins. On the palate, there’s a ton of stewed plums, bright strawberries, blackberries, and smooth caramel. More toasted oak, cocoa powder, and vanilla finishes things off. Exquisitely crafted, silky, and rather interesting. I’m loving Merlot again. — 8 years ago
Super smokey at first and I was perceiving this muted prune feel that really threw me off. Not sure what was going on. Kept drinking it in sort of a baffled and intoxicated state but eventually this went missing during the wedding party. I recovered it the next morning on a picnic table about a half mile away overlooking the Muir beach coast with about 1/6th left inside and no cork on it. Proceeded to cork it with a random and drive back to Long Beach with it. I drank it at this point about 32 hours after opening and it was righteous. Menthol and so much medicinal cherry cough syrup from the nose all the way down the hatch. Really serious juice but loving that unique character. Definitely a slow opener. 💥 — 10 years ago

Loving it! — 12 years ago
I opened this same bottle in 2011 and was not impressed due to the strong tannins. 2 years later, this bottle has evolved! The berries are very prominent at the onset and the finish lingers at the back pallate. Loving this wine now! — 13 years ago
Jordan Wardlaw
Loving the purity and focus of this wine. There is a very crystalline minerality throughout. Not a tremendous amount of fruit, but subtle pear, white peach and bitter apple skin notes show up mid palate. This one is all volcanic terroir, acid and earth but it brings it all with confidence and precision. — 7 years ago
