This was our second bottle. First was uninspiring and despite the 97pt RP rating, found it to be disappointing. The trick is to let it breathe for at least an hour to let the flavors develop. It is no Opus One but very satisfying with a juicy steak or just plain enjoyment! — 8 years ago
Visual: opaco y algo turbio por los sedimentos. Color profundo.
Nariz: potente, blackberry (mora), cereza, madura. Composta, zetas, cuero, barnyard.
Boca: buen balance, taninos M ya refinados, acidez M, alcohol M+.
Me parece que ya debe tomarse puede estar pasando su pico.

Very smooth, well balanced — 10 years ago
Nice smoky nose with dried tobacco, peanut oil, iodine, mint and eucalyptus. In the mouth the tannin and acid is still youthful with crisp red apple skin and a hint of grandma's attic peaking thru the finish. — 10 years ago
I have loved other vintages more but still solid. — 11 years ago
Lovely and every bit of a bakers dream: clove, cinnamon, and just a hint of all spice — 11 years ago
Dates back to the Crusades & Scottish navigator, George Smith, 18th century owner, followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, then Louis Eschenauer, wine shipper. In 1990, Daniel & Florence Cathiard now own estate. A blend of 62% Cab Sauv, 30% Merlot, 6% Cab Franc, & 2% Petit Verdot. Dark red with dark berry fruit aromas, cedar, smoke and sweet spice. Palate, rich & complex ripe black fruit flavors, oak & cacao. Firm rich tannins, full, lingering, rustic, spice, perfect balance. L-T aging. — 7 years ago
5th wine of the 1987 flight. Drinking great still! Great fruit and structure after all these years! — 8 years ago
When it was opened the nose was shy, 30 minutes later it opened up to a smooth and elegant wine with fruit and soft tannins. Solid and good drinking. Cork was in great shape!! 56 year old wine that has held up beautifully.🍷🍷 — 8 years ago

A 10 year old port. The flavor of a robust Cabernet but sweet, thicker, and without tannins. Not tawny in flavor; not ruby in color. It is instead a deep and beautiful red color. Alcohol 18.2% by volume. — 9 years ago
Excuse me for (trusting my palate and) thinking that varietal labeling from this winery and era might not have been 100% correct?
This doesn't taste like aged Pinot but is still very enjoyable.
Opening up with time and the last pour (with heavy sediment) was actually the best. — 10 years ago
