One the nose, perfumed purple florals, lilac, blue fruit blend, blackberries, black plum, black raspberries, hint of pepper, whiff of tobacco, dry herbs & dark soils. The body is leaner but the tannins are M-M+. The palate has lots of; blue fruits, black berry, black plum, black raspberries, pepper, tarry notes, black licorice, dry herbs, figs, tobacco, soft leather, round, big, acidity and leaner nice perfumed finish. Photos of; their tasting bar, shiny new stainless tanks and their driveway entrance sign. — 8 years ago
Amazing- smoky tobacco, currants, peppercorn, lilac, light oak, moderate tannins — 9 years ago
Young but drinking beautifully. Perfumed nose with Lilac and Cherry dominating. A bit on the tannic side but that will fade with time. If this is what we can expect from the 2014 Loire Vintage the hype is well deserved. — 9 years ago
Reminds me of The Pundit. Vivid lilac, orange peel, and some funk. Rocks and spice help drive home the red fruit. A value if there ever was one. — 9 years ago
Simple, dry nose with cherry, oak, raspberry and lilac. Tastes with solid Pinot tannins, sweet strawberry, with hints of lemon and cedar. — 10 years ago
Delicious. Lilac, blueberry, olives and dark fruit in the nose. Big mouthful of fruit and acidity. Smooth finish. — 10 years ago
Very floral with lilac, Apple blossom. Mango, pineapple, and slightly rubbery character. High acidity, long finish, — 10 years ago
Sweet integrated wood on the nose. Good structure with sweet fruit and lovely lilac internal aromatics. Drinkable but needs a couple of years to fully integrate. A feminine hermitage. — 11 years ago
💜💜💜💜Northern Argentina. Extreme vineyard. Ridiculously allocated, and saved for a special occasion...Malbec and Cab make nice, offer up astringent but beautifully smooth tannins, black plum-cassis, pink peppercorn, gun flint, blue smoke, lilac and cocoa. Long finish. *A rare treat* (🐂🐂and yes, had this w/ steak) — 12 years ago
Surprise 2009 Napa Merlot tasting after the Pahlmeyer tasting.
Deep purplish ruby red. Lovely nose with notes of gunpowder, tobacco, dark berries, lavender, lilac and a touch of gravel. Medium tannins (7/10) and medium plus body. Lots of dark berries, sweet spices and woody. Long finish. Drink till 2022. — 7 years ago
Girard 2013 Petite Sirah at 14.5% is kicking it!!!! I could drink this entire bottle by myself. The color is not opaque but darker than most sirahs. It is a petite grape so this is expected. The bouquet is lavender and lilac. The initial palate is blueberry, blackberry, and dark cherry. Then comes the chocolate with a buttery smooth finish leaving your tongue very dry. What a great wine! Fantastic job guys. Cheers to Girard vineyards. — 8 years ago
Red currant, melon, and lilac on the nose, with a little pencil lead and leather as well. Fruit forward but really balanced, without being jammy at all. Would definitely drink again! — 8 years ago
A perfumed garden, in particular lilac. — 9 years ago
Burgundian in character. Black raspberries, leather, damp earth, cured meat, damp flowers, gravel, herbs. Bright acid, diminished tannins with a very fine profile, and a persistent finish. Loving all the feral, musky tones from the Carignane balanced by the lively Cinsault. As it opens up it becomes more floral with more brambly fruit becoming clearer and clearer. Garrigue, lilac, dark fruits and minerals. — 9 years ago
An incredible wine- lilac and roses on the nose, pure concentrated fruit on the palate. — 10 years ago
Smells of lilac and ash - finishes blackberry. Very dry. Never quite had anything like this.. Learning about the landscape of the area helps you imagine how it came to be. — 10 years ago
2008 Vintage. Dark ruby red in the glass. The nose offers up lilac, high toned cherry, strawberry preserves, chamomile tea and clay. Black raspberry, & shortbread burst onto the palate, but this wine is all about texture. Very rich, polished, texture that has bright acidity to bring this wine full circle. Very fun and complex wine. — 10 years ago
Aromas of strawberries, apricot and honeysuckle. Tastes like it smells, but also has a bit of lilac on the palate, beautifully dry, balanced rosé. #groupnotes by Ohadd, Elise, Amy, Garett and Sylvie — 11 years ago
Delish. Tons of lilac and wild flowers on the nose. Layers of blueberry in the mouth and a long pretty finish. Very new world Syrah but so well done! — 11 years ago
Semi sweet and delicious. Lighter and refreshing. — 8 years ago
Black underripe cherry. Herb, lilac. Evolves in the glass. — 8 years ago
Incredibly smooth and floral sake, very light notes of peach blossom and lilac. Clean palate without being overly dry. — 8 years ago
Found this one behind another one in storage. All I can say is....DAMN. This drinks like a Sangiovese that I paid 3x the amount for. Dense cedar and a little sweet blackberry. Smooth operator on the front and finish. A part of me is very sad this one was bought out by Kendall Jackson but I hope they kept their identity intact. Lilac and pepper finish. Immense. LOVED this wine. Almost gave it 95 but not quite there. I wish I had another case of this one! — 8 years ago
Velvety smooth with ripened lychee and soft lilac notes. Lush and worth it! — 9 years ago
First of all, too young. Explosive, spicy, chocolate, lilac, cassis and definitely on the Purp side of what I enjoy. Still a balancing acidity and formidable tannins that sneak up on you like a Barolo and end up hitting you square in the face and saying "don't you dare, you smug SOB". This is going to be my favorite wine in a decade or two and I'm going to wish I bought more. — 9 years ago
Turbid, deeply concentrated, blue black core saturated to a thin garnet rim. Medium plus intensity of ripe fruit, fresh florals, and dried herbs. Black currant dominates with layers of lilac, green bell pepper, cocoa powder, toast, black pepper and graphite. A dry wine with medium plus body, smooth texture, medium acid, refined forward moving astringency, a touch o viscosity, well integrated high alcohol 13.5% throws no heat. Concentrated, mouth filling lilac perfume precedes a long lasting black currant, black pepper finish. Bitterness noted but low. A well balanced, complex wine although a little confusing with Syrah due to the color and concentration of black pepper that lingers on the finish. Classic Bordeaux aromas with ripe but balanced new world styling. — 10 years ago
I've been looking for that $30 bottle that outshines any other - I think I've found it. Parker calls this the benchmark for fronsac and a sleeper of the vintage.. The nose is gorgeous with notes of vanilla, coffee bean, lilac, and lavender. On the palate, it's supple and enticing with sweet strawberries, chewy vanilla and oak, chocolate covered cherries and a velvety kirsch finish. Yup, it's good. — 11 years ago
Extremely floral, lavender, lilac. Initial oxidation blew off & a fruity, silky (and-slightly-spicy) palate emerged. Impressive for sure at 7. — 11 years ago

2016 vintage. Great typicity and very aromatic. Lilac, rose petals, blackberry, strawberry, tart cherry, black rocks, incense, graphite. So delicious. Great with a little chill on it. — 7 years ago
