Years back a plush monkey wearing a sombrero cradled a small acrylic painting of my own sat in a well maintained yet delicately musty loafer with a soviet hammer and sickle I'd also painted on the side was placed on my friends doorstep in the middle of the night. Shortly after my friend opened the door to quite a surprise, he was deep in the land of mushrooms, so deep he required conformation of the loafer monkeys existence. The complexity of that situation is not unlike this leathery, light, and colorful display. — 11 years ago

Courtesy of Mr. Penn, got to enjoy this with the cellar crew of Vins de Vienne. Healthy dose of RS was nicely held up with plenty of acid. Aromatic and ripe but fresh and long. — 12 years ago
Smokey meats, crushed black pepper, spice box, black cherry fruit. Chewy, juicy yet fresh on the palate. Bright fruit and acidity shin. Blend of northern and southern Rhone Syrah. Value buy! Drink now. — 9 years ago
Very pleasant Côte-Rôtie. I think there is not much mileage left here so I'll drink up my remaining bottles soon. — 10 years ago

Cote Rotie, and keep going north until you find the land that made Pliny geeked out, and then drink that Syrah, and be transformed. — 12 years ago

A friend who worked at Eric Solomon Imports gave me this wine many years ago and told me it need a bit of bottle age. Well, I forgot about it, so it got plenty of bottle age. After 18 years in the cellar, I thought it would be well past it’s prime, but it was still alive and vibrant. A bit of iron, some leather, and a surprising amount of red fruit. — 7 years ago
