Bready, high acid, and cheaper than house Champagne on my shelves. My personal favorite I carry and prime example of French Champagne from an American negociant. — 9 years ago
2008 Betz La Serenne Syrah
Deep dark purple color that is quite opaque.
Nose is reasonably complex and filled with blackberries and a hint of sweet dark cherry, layered with smoke, cured meat, leather, a trace of tar, anise, licorice, vanilla, and oak.
Flavors of dense black berry, fairly strong pepper, stone, and otherwise follows the nose. Upon opening the palate is not as open and complex as the nose, but given some air it opens nicely and rather quickly. It ends with mild-plus mouth coating tannins and moderate length. Always a lovely wine. — 9 years ago
Delicious fruit forward bites. Smooth smoky finish. Reminds me of our visit to the winery in Spain this summer. If I could turn back time... — 10 years ago

1968 Vina Real Gran Riserva Temperanillo. One of 3 wines we opened up for the lunch which Ash prepared at the house. Hard to believe that this wine is almost 50 years old. It drank beautifully- still a little bit of sour red fruit in the nose, but more predominantly forest floor, graphite, and meat. Not super rich in mouthfeel, possibly due to age? Great and fun to drink on a hot day. — 9 years ago

La Storia by Trentadue. 2012 Merlot, estate bottled block 500, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County — 10 years ago
2011 La Storia Trentadue Sonoma Cab. Another "I never would have found this if not for my personal shopper Kelli at McCarthy and Schiering in Seattle" winner. Big Time Somoma cab with all that you want in a Cali cab; big fruit, extremely smooth finish with not too much oak and tannin but very deep color and just a mouthful of WOW. Thanks Kelli! — 11 years ago
Super fun. Tastes like a sophisticated fruit roll up. Mixed berry flavor. — 12 years ago

Very young. Big juicy Grenache fruit are in abundance. Give this one a couple of years. — 10 years ago
Big and steaky on the nose, but drinks a lot smoother without the pepper bite you expect from it. Pretty full bodied Syrah. — 10 years ago
