So special. Toasted almonds, lemon marzipan, brioche bread, intense dried fruit, nougat. Deep and intense with chalky minerality. Move aside Krug, Dom takes the spot as my favorite champagne house — 4 years ago

21ÈME Édition Brut Champagne Rosé Blend

The fireplace reads, “Happiness is closer than you think, it comes in a glass of Krug!” Who am I to argue?

Every Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, I open a bottle of Krug Rosé. While their vintage cuvées are phenomenal, I really love their N/V Rosé.

It is delicate all the way around...shows such finesse and balance.

The nose so engaging. Cherry kirsch, strawberries, black raspberries, raspberry, pink grapefruit, tangerine, lean watermelon, light sea spray, soft of the softest most delicate; powdery chalkiness, sea fossils and volcanic minerals, hints of orange citrus rind, just a touch of baguette crust, light spice, fresh red floral and pink rose petals.

The body is rich and full yet feels like a feather on the palate. Super fine micro bubbles. Everything so beautiful, balanced and harmonious. Cherry kirsch, strawberries, black raspberries, raspberry, pink grapefruit, tangerine, blood orange, lean watermelon, peach, light sea spray, some of the softest most delicate; powdery chalkiness, sea fossils and volcanic minerals, hints of orange citrus rind, just a touch of baguette crust, light spice, fresh red floral and pink rose petals. The acidity is as perfect as it gets. The finish is absolutely incredible and persistent for minutes.

This bottle was corked in the summer of 2016. It’s a blend of 57 wines. The oldest is from 2000 and the youngest is from 2008.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas! Cheers!🎄🎁🎅🤶🦌⛄️❄️🍾🥂

Amazingly brilliant the 1969 Krug Cabernet Sauvignon gives you a glimpse of what CA wines were all about. Grippy acid still leaves the wine with structure and an amazing balance and a long finish makes this a compelling drink! — 8 years ago

Unbelievably great showing of a 65 yo Napa wine! Distinct from old Bordeaux - nice toasted oak notes persist fully integrated with dark fruit. A tue delight to have tasted! — 9 months ago

It was 19 in TX Tues, hailed yesterday, and is 80 degrees today. Welcome to spring in TX.

I love the info on the back of these bottles as they give detail to the base vintage and when they were disgorged. This is ‘08 base, disgorged 2017.

Right up my alley. I’d call this oxidative, but not overly so. There is a Krug-ness about this style. It’s toasty and savory with a little caramel, toffee and baked apple. Creamy. For my personal taste, while I enjoy all champagne cold, this is one of the few styles that holds up well even once it warms up slightly as there isn’t a lot of tartness here.

We are opening something special as well tonight, @Shay A. Had quarter size hail up here but no damage and already had neighbor inspect the roof! Might be a Champagne night for us as well to toast our week of Spring 🤣!

@David T : I love it! I’m going to re-stock.

@Ryan Vento : Stay safe down there! We all know that spring in TX is a roll of the dice.

@Mark Flesher : Glad there wasn’t any damage! Think we escaped unscathed as well.

@Bob McDonald : I’m inclined to agree with you. Can’t think of anything else that I would take over this at the price.

After finally getting caught up with last weeks posting, its back to our regularly scheduled Friday N/V Rosé Champagnes. My favorite after Krug. Sofia’s is different about every 2-3 weeks. 🤣🥂

My notes are listed many times previously. I’m taking a break from notes for now and going to fully enough my baby bottles 🍼 of 375ml. Ahhhh!

Clos d'Ambonnay Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne Pinot Noir 2000

2000 vintage. With Olivier, Stan and Jay at Krug. Deep and rich notes of citrus and stone fruits, iodine and seaweed. Toasty and bready. Very complex and concentrated. On the palate, high acidity, medium body and alcohol, deep concentration of flavour but with elegance and finesse. Very long finish. More mature and rich than I was expecting. How long this wine will develop is debatable. But in a very good place right now. Excellent. — 7 years ago

Grande Cuveé 165ÈME Édition Brut Champagne Blend

I barely have words to describe the breadth of this verbous 165th. Full of character - lemon and peach, spice and melon, brioche and berry. Try hard enough and everything is there. The body is full and the acid is high and mouth snapping. I found myself making goldfish faces enjoying this wonderful blend. Bravo Krug. I can’t wait to see you again. — 6 years ago
